Got a bit done today, now that the weather cleared a bit.

Planted up some planters (the long ones are to sit on the outhouse roof, and contain begonia boliviensis, the wee one at the top end has peach trailing begonias to match with the hanging basket tree which is below; the ones to the right are two troughs that will mount on the fence, tied back to back for stability until they go up - trailing petunias and pelargoniums in both)

          2014-05-29 16.43.20.jpg

Then it was on to planting up a couple of pouches of purple petunias to hang on the gate pillars of the driveway

          2014-05-29 16.43.27.jpg

My scaffolders netting arrived, but I didn't get round to sticking it up - - going to have to get my finger out though as the sprouts are getting keen

          2014-05-29 16.43.36.jpg

My strawberries continue to confuse me though - what would be ravaging them like this?

          2014-05-29 16.43.41.jpg

Lastly, I moved on around 70 begonias that were languishing in trays and just generally not doing; some were saturated, so standing with their feet wet which wouldn't help, whilst some others seemed a bit dry, and the rest - well, I have no idea :dunno:

Are begonias normally petulant? Could it be too much heat or direct sunlight?

I think the beg.s are sulking - too cold and damp and although they don't like the sun to stare at them all day, they like to know it's around. First sun here since last Sunday ,

Have you got compulsive begonia disorder ? That's a lorra Begonias,

By the time I had planted that lot out, my back basically gave up on me, so I started to dig the new border on the other half of the garden (you can just see part of it at the bottom right of the last picture) but I had to give up for the day as the pain was getting the better of me.

And it was only yesterday I think, that I said to you "listen to your back FC" ... :doggieshmooze:. It's all beginning to come together now though and will look absolutely FAB in a couple of weeks.
Hope you are sitting more comfortably with a :ccheers: admiring all your handiwork.
bet the pooch enjoyed his day with you.

Thanks Jenny - funny enough, I had your words ringing in my head when I was trying to push myself to get on with the other side.

I am sat on my recliner with a medicinal B&C, and wee Smudge is cuddled up next to me, and that will be me for the night - - the odd wee wander to the loo will be about as much exercise as I get tonight.

                        Looking good FC!

OH found the thick, long, tufty, wild african veldt type grasses in back garden dry enough to mow today, so that's me scheduled for edging borders tomorrow.

Neighbours on holiday have returned home, so I can finally consult with them about placement of my new composting area. Cornflowers and forget-me -nots needs tidying as well, so that'll be enough to be getting on with.

This weekend I've mown both lawns, moved a large (heavy!) Acer from a container into the border, dragged lots of heavy pots around to different positions, deadheaded some roses, lilacs and rhododendrons and some general pottering about. I've got a bad back and a dodgy shoulder so I'm going to be sore tomorrow.
