Went to the garden centre with my son this morning after football training and bought:
      Verbena
      Ganzia
      Lavender
      3 tomato plants
      Chilli plant
      Cabbage and cauliflower plants
      Compost
I had to buy new plants for the containers as the slugs and squirrels have destroyed all the pots I did before I went on holiday

Came home and painted a 6x6 foot trellis I built, 3 wooden planters. Weeded all 3 borders in the garden, then had to get down and dirty in the veg beds to get all the weeds out. I have taken virtually a whole wheelie bin of weeds out today. Gave the veg beds some fertiliser, and a good watering. Planted a few plants I had hardening off for the last week. Cleared a small raised bed of Penstemon and rehomed them in the front garden and I have sown corn cockle, corn flower, ox eye daisy, calendula, and fox glove in there.

Saturday I spent mowing all the lawns and trimmed the edges - took six hours with frequent breaks to hobble to the patio for a cuppa and a rest in my executive chair :blue thumb:.

Filled half a wheelie bin with weeds, spent an hour strolling round the garden chatting to the plants. Sold more plants to visitors - another £80 for the charity :blue thumb:

Sunday we enjoyed a lovely drive, spent a lot of time in the beautiful sunshine and delivered a car load of plants.

Saturday, cut the grass and trimmed all the edges (including the public areas around my house!).

Yesterday, planted out Sunflowers, Cosmos, Clary and Zinnias into the new border out the front, did a general weed and tidy up. The numbers of slugs and snails I am finding is finally reducing. Well fed birds around here (slugs go onto the garage roof and snails get flying lessons out onto the service road  )

Despite all the rain last week, 2 dry days had left the garden in need of a good watering, pots and all, It is now taking longer and longer to complete

Still waiting for some annuals to grow large enough to plant out.

In an ideal world yes, but I have to say, I do enjoy the watering as it gives me a chance to have a good look over the plants. Plus my outside tap is not exactly in prime position to achieve a cost effective system.

Agree with that ... amazing what you find when amongst your plants, everything from "Agggghhh SLUGS!" to "WoW! I didn't know THAT was in flower YET" :)

Weeded plums.jpg and thinned two rows of carrots.
Thinned plums on our dwarf victoria. Just out of curiousity counted the thinnings - there's 412 in the bucket!

I didn't have time to do much today but strimmed the bank and mowed the lawn in the back garden. It's still so dry here the sprinkler has been on the beds again this evening.

planted up a hanging basket with 2 x Harry Gray fuchsias in the middle and 4 x Calibrachoa Petticoat pinks,2 x a bluey grey sedum, 2 x helychrisum - all trailing stuff around the edge. It's sitting on a tall pot in a sheltered spot on the ground for a while. It was all a bit " brutal" even though I took as much care as I could. There's a lot of shuffling around, forcing bits to go where they don't really want to and it gets difficult filling up the small vacant pockets with more compost without showering the plants with it as you do it. Hope it will stay calm whilst it recovers,
                      Jenny

Drilled and fitted tap to this and then cut comfrey to start making some feed.

Mrs C was busy in the garden today, mostly potting on tomatoes, and tying in cucumbers, but took a few minutes out to get a pic of our lodger

Still nestled away quite happy in the greenhouse (pictured in amongst nicotians sylvestris seedlings)
