What Jobs are we doing in the Garden today 2014..

Great plant supports Rusty

 

Pruning the plum tree a bit, adding fertiliser and new compost to cyclamen in window boxes as they've just started growing and flowering again.

 

Cut back the spent Raspberry canes,removed all the leaves from my Roses that were plagued with blackspot and gave them a mulch..faffed in the GH and prayed for my tomatoes to get as big as @Trunky 's

 

Also lifted the last few International Kidney spuds and left them to dry in the sun






....that was a mistake then

 

Were these metaphorical prayers Lol, or did you actually get down on your knees in the greenhouse?

If so, any chance of a photo?

Done nothing in the garden today, apart from the usual watering. After spending the last 5 days gardening in this heat at work, I'm giving myself a break today.

Top dressing my container Buxus and giving them a dose of Bonemeal,potting on a couple of small shrubs until there's space in the garden to put them,might try to very carefully encourage my Pumpkin to go play on the garage roof as he won't let me get to my compost bin then going to sow a few Sweet Peas and force them to flower,I'm going to drag this summer business out for as long as I can

 

The bit that impressed me was how @Dips bent the fence from the original curve into that straight line

And sheal i wish im going to be digging out more of the new bed today. Have too many plants ready to go in

 

That reminds me ... we've decided to Can the Parterre Project with our Box (got about 750 rooted cuttings) [still planning to do a @shiney Celtic Knot from his hedge clippings of Euonymous], but we have a curve of Thuja hedge providing wind protection around the area where we sit out, and some scabby shrubs in a narrow border ... there was a massive Cherry there, but that fell down last year (under the weight of the crop, which made picking them a doddle!), and that has exposed how scabby (bit of a theme there!) the other trees are in that bed - all bent growing away from the Cherry, and its a rubbish place for mishapen Apple and Pear trees ...

So I'm thinking of getting a JCB in for an Autumn Project, as you do , and digging them all our, putting in a land drain (to hopefully avoid Blight??) and then planting my Box and doing Cloud Topiary or somesuch in a few years time. I've read Jake Hobson's books ... how hard can it be?
