Dug up more of the lawn infront to the hedge to create the new bed and tidied up all the broken tulips for the wind

Absolutely gutted that one of my big expensive alliums has been broken before it flowered. :cry3:

Weeded all the raised beds. Potted up a few more toms and chillis. Planted out some hollyhocks and lupins.Recycled some containers to act as new salad bowls. Then sat and done a bit of thinking!!

Sown Sunflowers,Sunzilla,Mongolian Giant and sunburst mix. Also sown 4 back up Pumpkins.Repotted some piddling little Delphiniums, thought they might have been able to go out in the garden but they've got waterlogged and look to be suffering, they'll only end up being slug fodder if they go in now:frown:...
                Sweet peas planted out:blue thumb:

Not much can't even mow the lawn. Typical my week off and it's not stopped raining.
The oenothera and eccremocarpus scaber have decided to germinate but probably too late for flowers this year.

I tried the bed supplied while out in Kenya and found the local "inhabitants" were constantly trying to live in the same bed. So after a suggestion from a Local I adopted a Hammock and slept on the veranda under a mosquito net which was cooler and less fauna and flora tried to get into the Hammock, although you still had to keep an eye out for long, thin "things" that slid around the rafters and occasionally fell from them.......and you always shook your clothing in the morning after checking your shoes.:hate-shocked::dunno::heehee: Aaaah, such fun!!:snork:

Checked on my Toms which are not in buckets as yet. Planted 12 Sunflowers in groups of 3 in the borders. Pink Campion is always welcome in my garden as all the insects seem to love them. But this year Pink Campion has sprung up in great numbers throughout the borders so I spent some time taking it out and tossing it onto the compost heap. I reckon it will take several missions to reduce it to a reasonable amount but it's looking better now. I also tied back the Roses and Honeysuckles on the Arbour which seem about to take over the inside of it. I've yet to deal with the 8 climbing roses by the pond........another day.:dunno::coffee::snork:

Started early this morning - 5am. Had no choice as my tomato plants seemed to have undergone an overnight growth spurt on the south facing window sill and were in danger of keeling over. Had to repot them. They really need to go outside. It's still too chilly - roll on the end of the month. I think I sowed too early (again!).

Got my begonias planted up into a hanging basket. They've been hardened off and now they will just have to lump it. I haven't got any room but if a very cold night is forecast, I'll have to whip the basket down and put it in the kitchen.

Planted up two pots of dahlias. Resowed two lots of seed. Phacelia and Nemophila. The leaves of both types of seedlings (they're still small) which I sowed direct into pots have white dots on them. I thought maybe it was powdery mildew but it looks a bit different and I'm not sure so I sowed some backups and bunged them in the blowaway as I may tip out the originals.

Did some weeding, tied in my wayward clematis, started hardening off more plants as the weather wasn't bad and deadheaded many of my tulips as the wind and rain had created a bit of tulip carnage. My back's now killing me! :coffee:

My lovely OH had got me another tall greenhouse staging off ebay (without me asking?!) so we partly emptied the greenhouse, rearranged it all and then I put it all back in. Found a fair few aphids on some things so glad I did it now. Everything is pretty much in a place where it can get sun now so I'm happy. One lower level of my big staging empty has made the rest look even fuller though! :noidea:
OH also put 2 panes of glass back in that had somehow fallen out but not broken.:phew:

Staring on in wonder at how fast dahlias grow :o thank goodness I asked for a later delivery. One of the dinner plate mini plants has grown into a mini shrub in just one week. They'll have to go outside soon!
