Not sure what I'm doing today as the weather is ok now but is going to get a bit iffy later on. I think I will have to put my Maskotka into it's basket but keep it indoors for now. It's still too chilly for it to go outside.

Last night I pruned the Ribes , which is moving to make way for my greenhouse, as it had finished flowering. Hoping to move it today, although it looks as if there may actually be 3 of them in the same area! [emoji3]

Not bad today. Two wall mounted baskets planted up and a unknown tomato type which is no more then a foot high but budding nicely potted on. Should be interesting to see how it turns up.

Another wheelie bin of weeds, more grass cutting (it's growing like mad now) and putting the finishing touches to the hanging baskets in readiness for Open Day. We'll hang them a few days beforehand and, in the meantime, keep them a bit warmer under the covered pergola.

Mostly one main job....I had to rig up a deterrent once I saw, to my horror, my young virginia creeper deplete of its newly grown leaves. I saw the damn snail on the ground nearby and slung it over the wall. I was nervous of planting the creeper there since it was the same place where a clematis could never get started due to slugs/snails. It is a good spot for a climber to "take" though and the creeper had a longer stem.

Anyway the device I made consists of a wide circle of plastic, formed into a ring and studded with short tacks. I placed it about halfway up the stem where it most closely held in place. I'll keep you posted.

After a lie-in to recover from staying up for the election results....

A bit of weeding, and with hubby's help (almost unheard of, and much appreciated, he had the day off to recover from the election all-nighter!) cleared the weeds on the edge of the drive, and a couple of trug-fulls of dandelion removal. The drive looks fantastic, but can't see where the dandelions came from....

Finally got to do something useful today. Bought 4 25l bags of compost as I've got 4 big empty tubs with chitted potatoes sitting in ready and waiting to get properly planted so now I can finally do it. Job for tomorrow that. I've got 4 other little tubs with some other seeders in and needed the compost to build up the soil so tomorrow is definitely going to be a potato day!

Also used a bit to sow some cucamelon, cucumber, giant pumpkin, cayenne pepper and carrots in propagators, plus some flowers such as lupins, bellis, morning glory and a couple others in another propagator as I'd like to plant some up my allotment to encourage the pollinators.

Just waiting for the damn rain to stop so I can get up the allotment and get back to it...

My lovely neighbour helped me install a couple of new (v heavy!) fence panels. Because the concrete posts are only 5 ft high and the panels are higher, he screwed some wood between the two at the top.

I've also been digging up soil at one end of the raised border and moved it about to fill some gaps between the new wall and the border. Need to do a lot more until it's how I want it.

Planted the last of gladioli bulbs (having rediscovered them after I 'put them in a safe place' after planting the first batch a few weeks ago...oops).
Aphid removal from my roses. I made up the mixture recommended on this thread to try and keep the little beasts at bay.
