Got home from work reasonable time so did loads of pricking out and potting on. Dahlias, Delphs, sunflowers, scabious, aster etc. Sowed more white sunflower and larkspur seeds.

Sat in the garden with a glass of red, soaked up the sun, and planned for more dianthus and nicotiana.

Same here, but my problem is that it takes half a week to cut the grass!

@Billybell It's looking good. :blue thumb: We don't bother with the (small) expense of rubber tops for the canes. That's what snail shells are for. :heehee: Very organic! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I've been sweeping and washing down the new patio, which is already filthy with bird muck and mud off the bottom of the big containers the builders just plonked there (they'd been stored on the mud patch that used to be a lawn while they were doing the work).

I've moved some planters about and now the nook behind the garage has been christened 'Rhodo Corner'. Will take some pics later when I can find the SD card I put somewhere safe

I'm going to do some more fence painting later. I don't usually mind doing it, but I'm having to be extra careful not to get any on the patio/coping.

Been outside getting blown around the garden. Did some weeding, tidying up the tulips and generally making space for new plants. Emptied a few troughs ready for some of my seed sown stuff. Took plants outside to harden off. Also potted on my canary creepers, some thyme and some birdsfoot trefoil. Took some shelving out of the blowaway for the canary creepers as I've got them in there for the time being and they've put a spurt on. Wish the wind would die down. I've come inside now for a cuppa and a sandwich. :coffee:

I've painted the fence across the back of the garden. New patio area is looking nice now. It'll be even nicer when I've planted it all up.

just general tidying. No weeding just deadheading and tying in

Also sown 40 cardoon seedlings and had to create some more propagators out of food packaging for them

My family always have a laugh about the things I ask for at Christmas etc. Its usually odd things like cane stoppers or paper bags for the Chrysanthemum blooms. One useful benefit of the cane stoppers is that apart from protecting your eyes they also prevent earwigs from hiding in the tops of the canes. Essential in my garden if I want to grow good Dahlias.

Not a lot today, but a lot yesterday, well, for my little spot. Couple large pots planted and some bedding planted out. Front lawn, quick manual rake, cut with my old Qualcast, feed and a little seed scattered. Hoping for a good lawn this year. Spotted some green fly on a couple of peppers I have in the conservatory.Cursed things that they are.

Been quite productive given the short time in the garden - I commenced the evictions from the greenhouse, moving the larger plants outside onto racks etc. Then it was on to applying Evergreen 4-in-1 to the grass (fingers crossed it works!), tied in a climbing rose, then gave a couple of others some support before moving on to plotting out the shape (roughly) that I want for the grass when I finally manage to turn it into a lawn -- there are now wee sticks with string all round the perimeter of the grass which will probably confuse the life out of the dog later

Then, we planted out the first batch of cauliflowers, planted out the sweetcorn seedlings, sowed two barrels worth of parsnips, one barrel worth of carrots, oh and I ditched the 20 delosperma that arrived this morning into a barrel of last years 'spent' compost as a holding pen until I get their final position ready. Lastly, we put up the builders debris netting over the barrels with all the food crops in them, so that should keep the butterflies off the caulis and the birds off the blueberries.

Oh, and the canary creepers that wouldn't germinate in the house? Well, the tray I sowed and lobbed into a shady corner of the greenhouse has three wee seedlings in it..... seems they prefer to be neglected.

I took pieces from the parent plant of my Lamium and they rooted readily in water. Yesterday I potted 6 up in individual 3" pots and they look quite perky in the mini GH this morning. I love it's patterning, it's form and it loves the shady side of the garden. Very useful addition to a planter,
                        Jenny

I've mown the lawn at the front, edged it using the edging scissors, weeded the borders and scattered grass seed over the lawn (or I should say moss). It's supposed to germinate in 3-4 days, but not sure if it's going to take. It never has until now, even when I've killed and raked out all the moss. Time for football now.

I have broken body day today so just been round and opened the cold frames and greenhouse and tucked some honey suckles back into the trellises so they are growing in the right direction

Amongst other menial jobs, before pruning the dead muscari flower I will be placing a toothpick there, to mark the spot. That way I know where the bulbs are....(scattered randomly). If I don't do that, since that space is dormant for most of the time, I might be tempted to plant something there. They are in pots that have other plants.

I know people lift and store them but that is too much of a faff for me....I would be concerned that they get mouldy (happened to some lilies that I lifted out).
