General tidy up leaves etc , check whats what with everything , had to salvage a pot of Heuchera , I thought they looked a bit dried out and shriveled , when I picked it up the whole plant came away from the compost !!! Vine weevil !!! :hate-shocked::yikes:, I have taken cuttings which will be fine and checked through all the compost which I emptied on to the lawn , 17 in total so placed the whole lot in a old saucer and the robin has had a good feed.

Checked all my begonia corms they all feel firm and no rotting so back in to the frost free garage with them for another 4 weeks.

Still early February so who knows what the weather will bring.

It was a great feeling to be out in the garden again .....

Just a bit of general tidying up. Everything's pruned that should be pruned, ground is too hard to dig or even pull up a weed so nothing else to do but admire the snowdrops and the few little crocuses that are in bloom. Somethings been eating the crocus bulbs in a couple of the containers and left the discarded stalks on the soil - would it be mice?

Today I will finish digging well rotted horse manure into the polytunnel and wash the inside down. Give greenhouses a wash too, and water the salads in the borders. If time I will start to fill the morrison's flower buckets with compost from the daleks for the early potatoes in the poly.

Did my first bit of "proper" gardening this year. Spent time tidying up leaves and tying in some clematis stems. Yet again, I didn't wash my pots as I went along so now I've got loads of the flaming things to wash before my seed growing starts in earnest next month! :snork: :rolleyespink:

Finally finished pruning the fruit trees this afternoon ready to give them a winter wash next week, then the pheremone traps will go up.
Also moved 'Henri' around a bit to convince the deer that he's on their case :th scifD36: DSCF0006.JPG

Managed to get the patio finished today. Just need to allow the top soil a few weeks to settle before laying the turf.

I think that I need to more evergreen climber to hide the fence. The Hydrangea Semenii has been in 4 years now and looking great.

I got very excited at the mild weather, did a general tidy up (or at least made a start) planted some bareroot shrubs and checked my bulbs, all coming along nicely. Oh and we have a little second hand shop round the corner selling gardening tools for £2 each so I invested in a new fork. The head fell off the last one! :hapfeet::hapfeet::hapfeet:

Tidied up some of the front garden. Still had some of the dead summer annuals in there and lots of weeds. Still lots to do out there, poor neglected front garden :frown:

Spent a couple of hours tidying up the herbaceous border. It's looking a bit drab at present, but already, a few plants are showing the first signs of new spring growth; lupins, irises, bluebells and, as a bonus, some sweet peas from seed fallen from last year's plants. :)

Also potted on a Magnolia stellata given to Mrs Trunky for her birthday recently, into a large terracotta pot, where it should be happy for a year or so until I decide where to plant it out permanently.
