I did some tiling in the utility room this morning, but I was chomping at the bit to get out on the garden in the mild winter weather. So after lunch I tidied all the leaves an old annuals I had left in from last year. Cut everything back and gave it a good mulch. I then went into the back garden and started in there. It really was good to be in the garden with the sun shining. I have a load of stuff to put through my new shredder as well now.

Yesterday I cleared all the leaves & tidyed up the big front flowerbed, I've planted some snowdrops & primroses in my spring bed! I've also put in a few bulbs, I bought them from our local farm shop, £1 a bag, it's a bit late to put them in but they feel good so I hope for the best!
Might just pop out for half an hour before work!!!!

 I had a good half an hour in the garden! I've planted up 27 bulbs, all tulips :yay:, 8 foxgloves, 12 primroses & three pots of snowdrops :hapydancsmil:, I found yet more weeds in the big front flowerbed! The hens decided they would like to 'help'!!. I feel very happy to have been able to do those jobs, golly there's a lot to do still but I shall get there especially if the weather stays like this it's glorious :)

I got down and dirty too this morning. Hand "raked" the dead matter from the front border as little green and red Spring shoots are showing. Pruned the Spirea quite hard, and cut away all the Epimedium top growth as the little flowers will display soon. Which prompted me to do the same thing with the large mature Hellebore leaves and I can see pink flowers emerging at the base. Cut back the Bowles Golden grass clumps to make way for the new seasons bright green shoots that are starting. The trowel came out clean when I did do a bit of work - the soil's very nice to work with out the front now it's stopped raining so much.
And then I sprinkled Blood, fish and bone all over the borders. So economical, I get it for £1 per kg from my local Farm shop,
            Jenny
and the sun's starting to come out to play now

Good morning what a beautiful day,I have emptied and refilled 12 very large terracotta Pots, now they are awaiting some flowers, but that will come late
r:smile:Checked on all the Rose tips and buds and covered them with Vaseline to stop the frost causing any damage;)
Hand weeded all the garden, potted some more seeds for the greenhouse, swept up from top to bottom, moved and split a lot of perennials
Now I am going to take Penny and Tiny out for a walk:smile:

It's not as mild as I thought it was going to be but ventured out anyway. The temp now is 6.8C but the wind is really nippy here by the Mersey and does cut through. I thought about @shiney 's new long johns. Think I might treat myself to a pair. Anyway, I did some weeding - there are quite a few nasturtium seedlings that have sprouted. I dragged out some snaps which just kept on giving but it was time for them to bite the dust. I also dragged out some annual mimulus from last year which I've decided I'm not that keen on.

I also checked my crocus bulbs for the umpteenth time. They've got buds, just no flowers yet.

Yesterday was lovely. Finished tidying polytunnel and greenhouses, shelving up ready for pots and trays next month. Weeded and mulched rhubarb, put old barrel over one to force some. Weeded asparagus bed, will mulch that today. Moved some raspberries, finished pruning blackcurrants and moved a cultivated blackberry that's not been happy on the side of the shed. Some men at work cutting back branches from electric cables have given me a load of wood chippings, will use them as a weed suppressant under some shrubs. A good day.

I intended to get my propagator underway but with the water off all day thought better of it with no way to clean up after. I pruned the roses instead. :)

Carried on my battle with the brambles or in french, les ronces, which grow like triffids here.

I got home from work today and had to pick up my fence, not wind or anything like that. Neighbour drove into it! No apology from him (driver) but his wife apologised.

He saved me a job though, it was coming down at the weekend anyway to make way for box hedging.

Atta girl:)...go get 'em! If you can get hold of some 2,4.D from a local agriculteur, it's just the ticket for tackling bindweed and brambles.
It was the first intensive day's gardening here for three months...oooo how I ache:thud: The fruit trees are now bright blue in best French tradition, weeds glyphosated, ivy severely curtailed and pond tidied up.
Another fine day forecast tomorrow:) Youpi!
