I don't think you can over water in the garden Jack but if you're talking about pots, I soak them until it comes out of the bottom then leave them to dry out before watering again. :)

Yesterday I spotted a tomato plant I'd forgotten about and meant to put in the green bin as it was a spare. I noticed it had a few flowers on it so I potted it up and found a bit of space for it along the south facing fence. Also did plenty of watering and bee watching.

I watered everything out front early doors, then planted out some Daylilies and moved some California Poppies from a planter to the same border. I'm not sure they're going to transplant very well but worth a shot. I've removed a couple of Digitalis from the back to move to the front and I've got a load of other stuff to plant out, so will get on and do that over the weekend.

Right then, I've got me nappies.
I've just spent an hour splitting one and extracting the white powdery stuff but am now thinking I've done it wrong.
Should I be leaving the cotton wool type stuff in with it ???

                  Busy, busy, busy today.

It all began with deciding it was way beyond time the sweet peas on my bathroom windowsill needed planting up  and it all went from there: ... planting; sowing salad leaves; potted up a hanging basket; sort of put together the shadow of a window box (at least the brackets are up and I can work on that at leisure); moved the furniture around the patio; created a hanging "salad bar"; hung two laundry loads outside; moved patio pots around the patio; caught the sun on my back; made a hanger each for 3 small terracotta pots to put some succulent "cuttings" into; dropped two of the pots which broke into 2 and 3 pieces - had no glue  - so, tied them back together again with string :heehee:

Doesn't look like much written down, but, my back is telling me otherwise :phew:

did a little hedge pruning (and shredding), rhodedendron dead-heading, general deadheading, and then watering, as the threatened thunderstorms did not arrive. Oh, and a lot of wine-drinking - well, it is our wedding anniversary!!

                      Happy Anniversary! :)

We haven't had the promised storms either - barely a wee shower earlier on.

Yes - it holds the whole thing together an gives it a bit of consistency. The easiest way to do it si to give the nappy a good wetting first - don't be shy either, as it is really quite remarkable how much water they can soak up; that will allow you to almost remove the pad as one piece into a suitable bucket or bowl, and then you can add more water bit by bit and work it through your fingers as you do so and you will get a consistency like lumpy wallpaper paste.

I have got a double shift tomorrow, but if I get chance I will try and do one and take pics of each stage to show you. Failing that, I will try Sunday.

Hope your knees are better today @jennywren.
                          Happy anniversary, @Sian in Belgium!

I don't have much in my garden yet *sulk* but I did plant a hanging basket last Sunday - my first ever gardening job! - and I was very excited to notice yesterday that the Surfinia are opening flowers now. So my daily gardening job is watering the basket.

Twice I've come out of the house and walked straight into the darn thing. My head is feeling quite tender!

                            Hi FC,

                            Thanks

I'll have a go tomorrow and when they're wet through I'll add the one I split back into the mix a little but at a time.

PS... Paid £1-85 for 10 from Wilkinsons.

Had a smashing afternoon in the orchard where the Kuny Pigs live. Had the greenhouse to myself- well, had a soppy ginger moggy to keep me company...:cat-kittyandsmiley:, Classic FM on the radio, a load of 6 cell polystyrene modules, a tray of poppies to prick out and a huge great pile of Compost.
Absolute heaven, 3 hours just stood there potting up about 100 poppies,
