That looks heavenly @Jenny namaste, do you work there?
Today I checked the greenhouse, killed 5 slugs and closed the greenhouse. I did get some big pots for my dahlias and tomatoes. Fingers crossed it's drier by the time I get to pot up..gardeners world live tomorrow! Yippee!

no, but I go there most Saturdays to deliver homemade bread in exchange for plants, compost or produce. I saw a tray of seedlings desperate to be pricked out singly and I offered to do it. They were most happy to let me loose in there. Let's hope the seedlings grow on big and strong...

going back in the morning to do some potting on... love it...:dancy:

Apart from taking the 'robbers' off my tomatoes in the GH there wasn't a lot to do due to the rain but I did get the 'staff' on slug and snail patrol:blue thumb::chicken:

I'll be repairing the garden today after the annual big bash bbq... think the garlic bed had someone fall in to it and a branch of a young pear tree is snapped. I'm sure there's more! Grrr.

Thanks @ onions.JPG Anzia - 'tripped up' knee is now fine ;)
Been working at the top of the garden, the onion bed(ends) have now been planted with melons and winter squash. Did a tidy up of the asparagus bed. The 300 or so buddleia cuttings (in front of asparagus) I took last year ALL seem to be growing ahhh...lost about 10 - thought I'd only get about 10! This afternoon going to dig a trench in front of the asparagus - fill with muck and do some more planting. Also going to scoff the strawberries I picked this morning with some Aldi Macadamia ice cream - scrummy. That's if the thunder stops...still be having the ice cream though even if we get a storm!

The greenhouse cucumbers are coming on strong, so it looks like I will have to find some dill and dig out the BIG crock for making garlic dill pickles. This year I am growing a variety that needs no pollination, which makes it ideal for the greenhouse: Matilde.
Features:The perfect-sized cucumbers for making the delicious little pickles known as Cornichon pickles. ‘Mathilde’ cucumbers have no bitterness and can be picked when just 2" long. This is an early-producing variety with heavy yields making it a good choice for Northern climates with short seasons.
Uses:Eat fresh for a delicious and nutritious snack. Slice into salads, layer on sandwiches or toss with vinegar, onion and seasoning. Serve with dip on a vegetable tray.

De-weeding more drive...! And the left hand edge of the path. Fed the hanging basket and pinched off some past-it flower heads. Fed the hedge too. Its base had been covered for so long with weeds and blown-in litter and so on, and it was so overgrown before trimming, I think it's been short of nutrients and light/air.

Spent 3 hours in the garden after gardeners world. Did some potting on and planting out, tidied the greenhouse and tied back/supported a few things. Brought out the agapanthus and gave most things a feed and water.
Had a sweep and found my missing wooden handled trowel. Didn't get any weeding done though!

Been taking it easy (again!) today, as I've got a niggly sore throat.
But this morning I woke up to lovely soft summer drizzle, so frantically got all of the big house plants outside for their annual wash, which of course meant it stopped. Not to be outdone, I left them outside for a "blow" whilst I walked the dogs, then hosed them down with the hosepipe on "shower" setting. Left them to drip-dry, whilst I watered the rest of the garden, cleaned out the bird baths, picked another courgette, deadheaded the roses, and tied in my summer jasmine.
Then tidied up all the house plants, (mainly figs, and a big indoor Palm) , topped up the compost levels where necessary, fed the chillies and tomatoes, and then brought all the house plants indoors again. Well, apart from the palm, which I'm leaving out for a little longer, in the hope that one of the tit families will decide to clean it of the aphids it's got.
Still feeling a little grotty, so going to close up and have a quick nap whilst the farmer sprays the potatoe field on the other side of the valley (never happy with spraying nearby), and then will get on with some weeding....
