After a slow start to the day, got my wind up for the afternoon:-
      • removed gate from front of property
      • attached old gate from the front to the archway entrance to the utility area of the rear garden to complete the secure area for the chooks
      • top dressed several pots
      • potted on a clematis Armandii
      • potted up a lavender
      • potted up a rosemary
      • re-sited the wheelie bins
      • re-arranged some pots out the front and put them on the stairway to the basement (*then* watered them ;) )
      • more (bind) weeding
      • trimmed the pair of standard Bays of their ba(b)ylets which are growing up from the base, gave them a topdressing and mulch
That's enough for today, I think :phew:

Weeded the brassica plot and planted out some Psb. Planted out some castor oil plants, admired the peonies, tried not to look at the bare patch where the rabbits ate the coreopsis!

Did some mowing and hedge cutting, then weeding.

Fixed up a bee, lacewing etc. house down in the veg plot. Swore at the rabbits that have now taken the tops off over 100 beans (runners and French). Did weeding in the veg plot and got a wheelie bin full of bindweed, strawberry weed, buttercups, dandelions, grass and other weeds. Trimmed all the edges of the veg plot and put the sprinkler on half of it.

The sun has got the better of me with the temperature now at 79.7F  - and rising! So I'm sitting in the airconditioning having a drink. :coffee:

            Today's endeavours:-

            1) turn left at the end of my road and visit a garden centre (hugely disappointing!)
            2) turn right at the end of my road and visit a garden centre (took me aaaages ... perusing  )
            3) select plants
            4) pay for plants selected - in cash, so not traceable
            5) Hide them in boot of car :th scifD36:
            6) Drive home
            7) Smuggle them in round the back :th scifD36:

It was a tough afternoon's work, but, it had to be done! :phew: :phew: :phew:

Me too!!! If it showed up on a statement I'd have awkward questions to answer to e.g.
 "Why did you buy the Eden Project?"
                or
"Do we sponsor the plants for Kensington Palace now?" :th scifD36:

Yes, I know, very weird questions indeed hence why I want to avoid them by paying cash ;) :phew: Besides, all my family know that the plants in my garden were all ... self seeded

Watering watering. Dug out my astilbe as they were really suffering and had powdery mildew. The ground was really dry where they were. I just don't think my watering could keep up. Wasn't massively keen on them anyway...

I just love Red Valerian,Rosebay. I fish every year at a really beautiful Village called Yarwell in Peterboroughshire and there's an abundance of Red Valerian grown from the dry stone walls of the Cottages and buildings......it's just a really great partnership. I don't have any in my garden but I think I will grow some and plant it against a wall in the Sun.
