Too hot to do anything but lie in the shade watching things grow. A touch of watering may be called for later I suspect.

Weeded all the garden and then started another big dig over, my back has gone on strike!!!!

I have been told not to leave any evidence of weed roots in as they will just come back ...... But when it looks like spiders webs on every turn of the fork it's hopeless :thud:

I've mowed the lawn front and back, edged the front, pulled up lots of stuff, sprayed lots of other stuff with Roundup, watered some stuff and emptied a long trough of gawd knows what weeds into the compost bin. Only been out there an hour and I'm sweating cobs. Lovely thought :phew:

Does anybody else use the lazy way of composting weeds? I pull them up from the borders and chuck 'em on the lawn, then run the lawnmower over them. Added advantage is that they break down more easily because they've been shredded.

I have a zillion and one heucheras, hostas and other shade loving plants that I've bought that I really need to get into the borders. Need to get foxgloves and other stuff out first. I don't mind a few of them but they take over if you let them.

After cutting the grass yesterday, today I took one of the many coppiced hazels back to the ground (nearly). I think I could provide rustic stakes for most of Vlams Brabant!!

I went round a garden centre :D Thanks to lurking on all you lovely people's threads, I recognised lots of the plants! No purchases until the garden is ready :cry3:but I sense a future financial sinkhole looming. "Ooooh, that would go really well with that, and the foliage on that would be a perfect backdrop to that, and... and..."
I thought nothing could get more expensive than a book addiction and a craft addiction, but I see I was wrong :heehee:

Finished planting up the south border, put a few stray pepper plants into larger pots (not expecting much from them truth be told, they should have been moved on weeks ago), put 5 x celeriac plants into large pots and then had to quit as I was in blooming agony.

Just had my bath, and now we are going to try and relax a bit for the rest of the evening.

Very warm here so not the best day to take down an ailing small willow but it was on my to-do list for yonks so had to go. As well a lot of pruning and dead-heading. Hot, sweaty and I'd already said I'd cook supper so better get started :gaah: Maybe a little vino while the chef is slaving over a hot stove to help things along.

...ooh, the result was so inconsequential, i nearly forgot!

I also picked my annual crop of gooseberries. The day before yesterday, this would have been enough for a small crumble. I waited a few days for the fruit to sweeten up a little. After a "visit", it is barely enough for a single portion of fruit. Mrs Foxy?!!??

Had another go at removing the Willow from the Rose garden. Got all the branches off it now. Hopefully will be able to saw the main trunk off tomorrow ( can't dig it out).
Carried my usual 10 buckets and watering cans round to the back garden (full of water of course).

The willows being stubborn then Anthony? If you don't get the roots out it's likely to re-shoot.

Potting on, deadheading, blasting aphids with the hose...and lots of feeding and watering.
