Weather was a bit rough this morning, and I was on a very (very) slow start, so not much done today. We tied in, and de-robbered, all of the tomatoes then fed everything - - straight tomato feed for the tomatoes, and a balanced diet feed (half miracle grow half tomato food) for the cucumbers.

I fed my baskets with tomato food in the hope that they might actually become productive this year, but to be honest they are among the most disappointing I have ever had.

Oh, and I fed the two brugmansias from our very own @pete - they are doing really well :)

        UPDATE........

Today has been a total waste of time gardening wise :(

No soon as we had had dinner it started to thunder. 10 minutes later it was like a mini tornado, never seen wind like it in my life. Then the heavens opened and that was it till it was time to get ready to come home.

Nevertheless, I managed to change my mums curtains :)

You're still on the right side of your mum if you achieved nothing else today Anthony.

The weather's not been good here either with damage to plants overnight and again around lunch time today. My Lupins, Roses and strangely my Antirrhinums have all had stems broken and the roses have lost several flower heads. My annuals aren't going to make it to blooming at this rate, I'm losing to many. I've tidied up the damage and dead headed the roses, they're looking quite bare now but if the weather decides at some point it's summer they will flower again. :)

Good morning have just staked the Hollyhocks up,I have the lawns back and front to mow,we have had lots of rain over the weekend so the ground is soft, take the car for its MOT,and then just a general tidy up of the gardens, and pop down the local surgery to deadhead and tidy up the Roses, enjoy your day:smile:

For the first time in well over a week, we are forecast comfortable temperatures, just 26 degrees....

So I will be out working hard in the garden, trying to see what has struggled, where I haven't reached with the hosepipe (normally I don't water, so the roots go deep, but even some of the trees were struggling), and what has still grown like Topsy, and needs pruning and tying in.

Oh, and I need to go to the garden centre to get a water pump for the pond. The water was not looking healthy over the weekend. I did an emergency water change yesterday (about 80 litres), but I think the long term solution is good circulation, especially as we have ...

It's the variety that all the hottest chillies in the world come from!!!

Good job but don't be surprised if it sprouts new branches. It takes a lot to kill the tree and the killer doesn't work quickly. Cut off the branches, unless you like the look of them, and you may have to give the trunk another dose next year and possibly the following year.

After nipping into work yesterday & doing the grocery shop etc I finally got home & it rained, not much but enough to stop me venturing out, so I started on the housework :phew:, I found 4 moths 2 on my widow ledge in our bedroom & 2 in my wardrobe......so I turned into a neurotic domestic goddess :heehee: I cleaned just about everything, pulled out the furniture, dusted, washed the skirting boards, hoovered, scrubbed, I even took the laundry basket outside & gave it a bashing! :phew: Ok so the house looks nice, but thinking about this morning the moths probably came in because we've had the windows open for days in the warm weather! Every six months I spray all the carpet edges with cat flea stuff, just Incase the flea preventer doesn't work on the cat, you can never be too careful, the chances of it actually being a moth invasion is probably slim! So yesterday apart from watering I did nothing in the garden , I'm going to cut the grass before I venture back to work this morning & next weekend IS gardening.....I need to get my priorities right! :heehee:

Had a couple of hours after work so pulled up some finished foxgloves and planted out some petunias, spent alliums and a globe thistle. Will slot some dahlias in there once they've flowered in pots and I know what colour they are.

                          Hi Shiney,

It's not a big one. It was one of those dwarf weeping standards.
All the branches are gone now and we're left with a stump about 12" high and probably about 6" round.

It's been way too hot to work outside for about a week so in the meantime I've been cleaning the much neglected house. Yesterday was cooler so cleared the spring onions, mucked the ground and built this using cutting from a hazel (with hubby's help). I've planted runner beans and plan on growing them up strings attached to the frame. Sorry about the image my camera's on its way out.

@Beckie76 ha ha we must think alike - I went to Aldi yesterday - three bottles of bleach and six packets of coffee - replacements for three days of a manic cleaning session due to 38 plus outdoor temperatures...
Just saw this working the garden while I'm picking blackcurrants...
