      Hi everyone :)

As some of you know, the last month or so has seen me trying to sort out our 12 year old Rose garden.

      Well it is DONE.......

The Willow ( ground cover ) has gone except for a 4" high stump, and this has now been treated to kill it off totally ( without harming the other plants/soil ).

The whole area has been covered with weed suppressant and gravelled over.

The Roses have all been fed.

The Aubrietia ( what the Willow didn't claim with its roots and wayward branches ) around the top of the wall has now been joined by Alyssum Saxatile seedlings.

Just waiting on the Roses to put on their second flush now :)

Cut back a lot of the hanging branches from the willow (bonfire heap 6ft high). Cut back a lot of the big runners from the blackberries as they seem to have grown about 4ft in the time we were away (bonfire up to 7ft!). Brambles at back not yet cut but they'll have to wait until after the burn up.

Did a load of weeding, lawn edging etc. Ooohh! My back! :old:

            Tidying. Tying. Deadheading. Repotting :)

Does anyone else's Astrantia wilt in full sun? I haven't seen this before but mine is today. It is very hot after colder weather. Just hoping it isn't struck by the same fungal disease my echinacea was as that could spell a disaster for the entire flower bed.

I weeded the drive, round the garage, path and front of the house and deadheaded the hanging basket. Then in a few spare minutes before a haircut, I got 20 packets of seeds from Wilko at 10p each (and some seed trays - still need seed compost though). Two of my Van Meuwen seed packets arrived this morning as well, so the seeds were a bit of a disorganised heap. Then I remembered I have an old index box, so I've stored the seed packets by sowing month in that. I feel a bit more organised now!

Made wood frame to go round electric propagator that is going in greenhouse over winter. Cut the bubble wrap & fleece to around and over the top of propagator for when it gets really cold.
Cannot get into greenhouse for cucumbers & toms so cleaned up the door of old b/wrap & gaffa tape. Sunday hopefully it will be to replace one broken pane. I am replacing the electric socket which is only one gang and has the round 3 pin type attachment.Fully waterproof but a pain as you have to keep changing plug from the round 3 pin to the normal 13 amp plug.
Will be putting in a exterior waterproof 2 gang socket but until toms are out of the way it will have to wait. What I will do is drill hole in house wall and thread armoured cable through to socket under the stairs.
The way the year is flying by I thought better to start these jobs early before the autumn. I have always have a struggle to get the greenhouse Alliplugs through 2 layers of bubble wrap where they overlap so will have a look to see if any other fitting is available.

Repotted perennial campanulas, some sweet William and wallflowers, all sown earlier in the year. Hopefully will find somewhere to squeeze them in come autumn.
Tidied part of the veggie bed. Pulled out what was left of the bolted little gem (not to many considering I planted 39 million of them:heehee:) and decided to have a go at square foot gardening.
Really quite happy with my little self:)
I've sown two types of cca, radish, beet root, pak choi, salad onions and turnips. Most of the seed packets said sow by July so:fingers crossed:

We took the thick branches down to the woodstore to season, before making the Rose trellis in the autumn.
Cut another trug full of greenery from the top border prune.
Put the last mesh trellis up.
Tied the honeysuckle and yellow pear tomato into the new trellis.
Got stung under my arm by a wasp for no reason.
Took antihistamine, Apis Mel (I know it's the wrong one!), and arnica.
                      Finished tying in tomato.
                      Watered plants.
Now medicating with white wine, whilst hubby cooks a lump of rib of beef on the BBQ...

Tied in the Dahlias a bit more today. They're growing faster than anything I've ever seen! Now terrified of a the late summer storms.
