Looks like you've got a big job there with your winter baskets @Sheal but what a lovely job, I love potting up baskets :hapydancsmil:.

@Anthony Rogers, you're baskets have done really well :dbgrtmb: are they in a sheltered spot?

Hi Beckie, no not really. They're half baskets and are all ontop of a fence about 5' high. I just think it's down to the weather.

First time I felt up to doing anything after the grass cutting on Monday...

I've trimmed all of the lavender edging the eye bed, so I can even see the path in places! Also cut back the marjoram flower stems on three of the plants, so that it will regrow a little before the winter, to give me something to harvest. It looks so much better! I would take a photo, but it's just started to rain. Good job I picked the mint leaves when I did.

Now that I have the latest batch of tomato pickle on the go, time to mince the mint leaves and preserve them in golden syrup....

...boy! I'd forgotten how good bruised and chopped mint smells!!

It cuts through those post-cold Blues like a razor! This stuff is mighty powerful...:dbgrtmb:

Im cutting down the sunflowers as the flowers have almost all finished but they are looking a mess and are verging on falling over.

I have also trimmed the ivy near my side gate as it was starting to encroach on the walking space

I've misted cuttings in the greenhouse and that's it. I've got viral bronchitis and it's really getting me down.

Hope you recover soon @CharlieBot. That sounds horrid.

I haven't done anything proper today other than admire my Amazonian potatoes. (Well, Amazonian foliage... the potatoes themselves remain to be seen.) Back on it all at the weekend!

                  Get well soon ladies!

The weather has been good on the whole this week but between shopping and appointments I haven't been able to get near the garden. Come Saturday I'll be catching up after my holiday by starting on 80ft of hedging that needs trimming and lawns to be mowed with more to follow over the next week.....weather permitting! :)

@CharlieBot i hope you soon feel better, rest up & hopefully you will be able to potter in the garden over the weekend :grphg:.

Gosh @Sheal sounds like you've got a big job to do there, but very enjoyable, I love hedge cutting it makes everything look so neat:dbgrtmb:

@Dips you could hang the seed heads in a tree for the birds to peck, I've had bluetits & goldfinches pecking at my old sunflower heads :dbgrtmb:

I've not done a lot in the garden this week, apart from mowing. I'll try and get a few hundred feet of edging done today if my neck lets me. There's no real problem with my neck but keeping it bent down looking at the edge gives me a crick in the neck.

After work yesterday, I went into the garden and picked these...

                        Olives.jpg

Nice crop of Olives, may not come to much but pretty pleased with them!

Sadly i cant as i only have 5 tree options. Three of those arnt taller than the fence yet and the other two arnt in nmy garden but where they hang over there are no branches with nothing underneath so would put the blue tits in danger of being killed by my cats.

So its safer for them that the sunflower heads have gone in the green bin

The hedge is done, my back is done in and the lawns will have to wait until Monday. :) I don't use noisy tools on a Sunday as I try and respect what should be a day of peace.

@ARMANDII I followed your tip about using a ground sheet to collect the trimmings. Thanks, it made a lot of difference! :dbgrtmb:
