Had an offer accepted on a house yesterday. The garden is massive compared to what I've got now and south east facing which is better than bang on north. :dancy: Today I'll make a start at dragging up the annual climbers. The canary creepers are pretty much finished but the cobaea scandens is still going so I'll leave those for the time being as I'd like to see if I can collect some seeds from them. Just hope everything goes ok with the house. :hapydancsmil:

Didn't have much time for gardening yesterday so only got a bit of harvesting done and cut back some of the blackberries.

That needed cutting with a flamethrower years ago! :snork: That's also one very big Escallonia. Is it a neighbours?

Great news Fern! I hope it all goes through nicely without any hitches along the way. :dbgrtmb:

You're not wrong there GardenBadger. Yes, both hedges belong to my neighbours either side although one of the boundaries is mine. I also have 60ft of Potentilla hedging running across my front garden, that is mine of course and only 3ft high, so easy to trim. :)

I've cleared most of the tomato plants from the greenhouse and had a good clean up in there. Planted three dozen winter Pansies in baskets and small planters, only another hundred or so to go! :doh:Washed buckets, pots, trays and labels and played at being a silly beggar with the sprinkler this evening, trying not to get soaked when moving it instead of turning the tap off. With no rain for the last six weeks everything is parched.

                Lots done yesterday. :blue thumb:

I had a big bonfire the other day and reduced the 7ft heap to ash. It's now almost 6ft high again . We cut back a lot of tree branches that were getting too big or getting too crowded. Plus having to cut back one branch on a 60 year old specimen conifer that was beginning to press on the overhead telephone line.

Filled two wheelie bins full of nasty weeds. Picked the last of the runner and French beans from one of the ShineyFrames and worked hard at putting that area to bed. A hundred bean plants needed to be removed (left their roots in to return the nitrogen into the soil), all the overhead webbing to be cut off, canes to be lifted and stored and the area swept. :phew: I needed help to get the overhead tensioning wires tightened up as they had stretched quite a lot as it was my new ShineyFrame.

I picked 40lb of Conference pears (my favourite) and 20lb of Cox's apples. In between all this I was forced to pet Sarafi a number of times when he came to inspect the work.
                P1240395.JPG

He was not at all impressed with cutting the branch on the conifer as it is his favourite climbing tree.

Thank you, a lovely idea @wiseowl but I've tried Cistus and unfortunately the winter winds tore it off it's roots.

Planted the first of my garlic into roottrainers today. More to plant tomorrow and will be needing more roottrainers for the rest. Gathered up the fleece that protected the last of the outdoor tomatos frommour first frost of the year, yikes here comes winter......

Still watering/checking the potatoes, hanging basket and planter. They're doing well! I got my garlic from Van Meuwen yesterday so I'll plant that this afternoon.

I'm still removing runner bean plants from the canes after taking the webbing down, Then removing the canes and cleaning up around the ShineyFrames.

Also doing more edging and have got most of it done. So it's time to start mowing again

@Sheal The variegated leafed version of Cistus tends to grab the ground better - and the leaves look good when it's not in flower. You could stake it until it's got it roots settled properly.
