Finally back in the garden again after a while of not being well enough

Managed to tidy up the roses and remove some rotting flowers, deadheaded the buddleia and tidied it slightly. Picked up loads of quinces again. Pulled up a few weeds and cut down the old achillea stems.

I also finished pinning up my cog trellises ready for the new growth from the akebia quinata next year.

long term plan is to extend the cogs along the back fence in both directions but this will do for now.

Just sowed a green manure of winter rye in my raised veg bed in the community garden.

The gunnera got the end of season trim using the machete :th scifD36:

and yet more leaves tidied up :autlvs:.

Had a quick look at the garlic and the roots are coming out of the rootrainers already with the carcassonne ones with shoots 2 inch high. Growing too quick I fear.

Operation dig up started when I got home from work for 1/2 hour. Cycad and a couple of palms squeezed into the GH. Brugs and the ensetes will have to wait till the weekend. Polycarbonate and wood at the ready to build shelters for the more tender palms

Finishing my cuppa after which I plan to thoroughly clean the greenhouse inside and then clean the gutters and rain butt.
Later it will be the first picking of a few of the larger leeks to have with dinner this evening.

Bulbs finally arrived from Crocus, so off to plant alliums hyacinths and crocuses first. Crocuses have 2 cm long shoots coming from them, hope they will be ok.

Between the showers I've taken off the lower branches of my Acer Brilliantissimum which were causing too much shade to the border below and also growing over the Stone Bench stopping me from sitting there. I'll have to get the old iron chimney out and start burning the growing pile of shrub and tree prunings. I've put off doing that due to the fog and mist that's been around for the last week and I didn't want to add to the pollution.
I've got over 200 Tulips to plant, a Pink Phlox and a Acanthus Spinosus to take out but will wait for drier weather. The Wildlife pond needs a bit of tidying up and the marginal plants need a bit of cutting back but again I will need some drier weather before I do that because, from previous experience, one job leads to another....and another!!!:dunno::heehee:

I've finally finished emptying the half baskets of their Fuchsias, just got to plant them up with some miniature Tulip species now.

Carried another 12 Fuchsias home so I can put them to bed for the Winter, they go to bed in my unheated bedroom :)
