Quick patrol today, little bit of pruning dead leaves from perennials and squashed some aphids hanging about on some Hellebores. For mid winter, there's an awful lot of plants still growing in our garden including all of the hardy Fuchsias.

Been in GH all afternoon splitting and potting on cannas and hedychuims ready for next month.
My cautleya spicatum has rotted  But managed to get some very small bits off of it.
Just the rhizomes from @HarryS cannas to pot up (there huge)
Making out new borders ready to dig, in preparation for my Xmas presents :)

Been a busy day for me today .... Disinfected each and every one of my pots, trays, propagators etc, Removed all insulation from my greenhouse, cleaned all the glass inside and out (and sliced my thumb on the louvre window), disinfected irrigation pipes and re insulated, although I didn't quite get finished with the re insulating today - just have the roof left to insulate.

Greenhouse stuff here too, too much of a howling gale to do much else.

Moved some container plants from the back of the garden and put them in the gap at the front of the house between the basement window and the wall of the front garden. Gave their compost a tidy and a top dressing.

Moved a pot housing a clematis and discovered some unplanted bulbs just behind it laying on the soil  They had shoots and little roots so quickly popped them deeper into the soil. Possibly bluebells but won't know for certain until they've grown properly

Finally found just the right containers for the pair of Bays I got last month ... a pair I already had and had forgotten about (they were being used up ended to raise the height of other pots) so saved myself a few bob and the bays are now happy.

snow on the ground here. really do not mind working in the cold, but the snow has got to to. Still need to rake out gardens. And burn some stumps. Waiting for snow to go away.

Just had a wander around but didn't stay out long as it's quite windy and chilly. Lots of bulbs are coming up - I went a bit bulb mad in Autumn! The snowdrops are starting to flower now which look lovely.

Had another wander. Found a pigeon carcass which had been stripped bare. Looks like an old one. The sparrowhawk must have hidden it somewhere and the wind had blown it into the open. Stuck it in the bin. Topped the bird feeders up.

The latest J Parkers catalogue came through yesterday, flicked through getting excited about what I could try. Then I sat and thought about all the &%@# I have had from them in the past and popped it in the bin. Bulbs are about the only thing I find worth ordering from them.

I will only be ordering from proper nurseries from now on.
