Oh good you got a tester kit then? I did mine a few days ago. A smidgen the alkaline side of neutral! That was a surprise as there are wild acid lovers around. Will need to check other parts of the garden..... :ouch1:

Don't you just dip a claw into the soil and then lick your claw? :heehee:

Found a tray of pots of sweet william seedlings at the back of the veggie patch which must have been there since last August when I had to do an emergency dash to the UK. :hate-shocked:Pot bound and leggy is the kindest description I can give them. I've given them a trim and planted them in a border but not sure if they'll do anything. Amazing what neglect some plants can take though.

Dug over the veggie patch (which is how I discovered the abandoned sweet williams) and gave it a good mulch of compost. I'd put some shredded bark on it in the autumn and it's kept it surprisingly weed free and the soil looks good. Just need to decide what I'm growing there this year. Early spuds, peas and cauliflower is as far as I've got so far with maybe green beans along the back.

Also got a bit more moss and weeds off another flower bed. Getting there slowly but the garden is actually starting to look as if it's coming alive. It's really pretty in the spring, mostly from plants from many years ago before I bought the place but with the addition of lots of bulbs I've planted too.

                Planted some raspberry canes too.

Sunny window sill would be fine Jason:thumbsup:

Pinched the tops out of my Leonotis seedlings and thought I'd stick them in some florist oasis to see if I can get them to root.No other outdoor gardening done apart from getting the pump out to shift some of the standing water...never stopped raining all :mute: day:rolleyespink:

I didn't do much today as it was raining for most of it. I did notice that my "Spring Dawn" daffodils have started flowering. I'm pretty chuffed with them seeing as my garden is north facing and they're not getting any sunshine. I only bought enough for a smallish pot but I think they'll be on my bulb list for later this year.

scarified the lawn today and spread a decent layer of compost over it as a top dressing  also moved all the pots off the gravel and gave it a thorough raking over, then put all the pots back again :phew: my god what is it about raking that makes you ache all over im-ok-smiley-emoticon.gif

My new turf arrived earlier, working from home today but took half hour at lunch to move it and roughly lay the turf out. When I finish working, I should have enough time to sort out the joins and cut in.
