you can also add a drop or two of bleach in a litre of water kills any fungal spores etc at the same time.

Had a few hours today and couldn't really decide what to do. Started turning over a small area next to my greenhouse and ended up clearing a massive pile of soil and upturned turf which was created when we dug out the base for the greenhouse. Seriously hard work!
There were numerous rocks, bricks and pieces of rubbish which had to be removed. So now the edging round the greenhouse has a new bed on 2 sides, and I have planted some divided geranium (war grave pink I think) small oriental poppies and a few small perennials I got from lidl.
Next job is to clear the big pile of grass cuttings from the front and build sides for a raised bed and a small path across the front leading to the greenhouse.

Nothing today unless you count the digging and scratching the hens have been doing!

annoyed at the moment though, as my hand cultivator, soil ph tester and soil moisture gauge have all gone missing! I'm thinking the kids have something to do with it but they're not owning up.... Argh!

Sowed a few parsnips outside and cosmos in greenhouse. OH made a great job of planting the new Bramley, and cleared a huge pile of brambles- my wrists still ache from pulling a load up last week. Found a clematis alive which I thought had died so moved it to the new arch. Made a start on weeding and clearing the herbaceous border. Wish I had never bought Golden Rod!

So far, I've just managed to put a "glass" sheet over the lettuce seeds I sowed a few days ago (we are forecast sub-zero nights midweek), before going to church.
After walking the dogs, hubby and I have a date with the compost bins. We have the top panel and one divider in place. Need to put in the uprights for the bottom panel, uprights for the outside "door" planks, and then I have a couple of heaps to juggle before I can put the second divider in. I doubt we will get much further than the bottom uprights today, but I will know the plans I am working to this week... image.jpg Ok, looks a mess, but that's partly because of the rotten doors I was using before. It WILL get better, honest!
