What jobs are we doing in the Garden today 2015

Just woke up remembering that I should've swopped the greenhouse gas cylinder yesterday, went out with a headtorch and swopped them over just in time.

 

Nowt until this wind eases off

 

Finished off planting the primroses; had a cuppa in the arbor

Other than that, it has been a bake-a-thon ready for my visit to Lincoln tomorrow ... son is surely fading away from starvation by now ... at least, that is what he is hinting at

 

Just taking another rain break,

I made a mistake fitting the first bit veridical, its trying to slide out of the wire, I have decided to leave it and if I have any left from doing the other side I will put some over it horizontal, this time next year/this year it will be covered with climbing plants/sweet peas so its no hard ship,

I will go and start the other side shortly

 

Just potted on a few in the conservatory. I,m not hardy enough to do anything outside in the wind thats a blowing at the moment.

 

Looks better on the horizontal but them being different would appeal to my obsessive nature.

 

I'm fed up of having to pick up stuff that's been flying around the garden!! Wish this wind would clear off.
spent a good hour or so up the allotment today. Think I could do with a nap...

 

My wife called me this morning to say that my new decking and pergola that I finished yesterday had come down in the wind....



It was an April's fool joke... was not amused..

 

Sorry but lol! That's a good April fool...

 

Mrs NCFC got me with that one too,my heart sank for a minute

 

I coped with a little gardening before going back inside to tie my hair back on...talk about windy-blow!

Anyway ...
- my indoor tete-a-tete daffs have now been planted out in the garden to flower again next year.
- A large fist-ful of snowdrop seedpods (from my Mum's garden, the snowdrops were bought by me with my school dinner-money XX years ago!) have been planted around the garden here in Belgium, where they can safely germinate and build up to flowering bulbs over the next 3-5 years.
- I found the wood anemones plantlets that I put in last year, and thought I had lost. Much leaping for joy ensued, closely supervised by two rather concerned dogs .
- the new compost bins were admired (again!) by me.
- the dogs' poop-scoop bucket was retrieved from the top of the garden, wedged into the rugosa roses by the force of the wind.
- bird-feeders were filled, mainly to stop the stroppy behaviour of our local woodpeckers - I am not fluent in woodpecker, but their language ...!
- another small strip of lettuce-seeds were sown in the veg bed, and the cloche cover put back in place. (Nothing germinating yet, but hopefully we will see signs soon)

 

Pricked out some Tomatoes and made a makeshift cover for my heated bench,the cloches I was using are needed for my veg patch now.Just tucked everything up and took the Cleome seeds out the prop for the night,apparently they like extreme fluctuating temperatures to germinate.They should be fantastic up here in Yorkshire if it's 'fluctuating temperatures' they want

 

Good news the new neighbours have already replaced the fence panels
Pricked out the dahlia redskin and bishops children.

 

Still awful weather here very windy , rain squalls one after the other , bit chilly as well . Hopefully can get something done over the hols.

 

Following on from my earlier post ....

... relocated the chicken run to its final position
... moved all the crud that was just unceremoniously dumped last Autumn (bags of flint; odd bags of compost; odd bits of trellis; odd paving slabs etc etc) so at least I can begin on the one area which gets all year sun!
... moved the Vegtrug off the patio down the bottom of the garden (it will fit now the coop has been moved). Except ... there is still an old root in that corner .... now known as @Sheal 's root ... so, shuffled the Vegtrug along a bit and now await the time Mr "M" and I have the energy to dig up Sheal's root

I ache now, but I have achieved a lot both in the kitchen and in the garden: so, an honest days work is done
