I guess that might be plucking off the top since digging it out by the root constitutes proper work! [IMG]

I'm doing nothing in the garden today. Just came back from my Niece's coffee bar and am now sitting in the garden (glorious day) typing this message using my laptop and Wifi. A perfect day I think :yay: :dbgrtmb:

Mind you I do need to do some digging......urm....I'll do it tomorrow:)

Well, situated in the south east, I now have an official reason for not doing any gardening today (although I did - pruning etc).

            http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32233922

I am on the outerskirts of London though, i.e. doesn't look like that photo.
            However...it brings to mind a quote ..............
"hard work never killed anyone, but why risk it?"

Inbetween Dr's appointment, dog walking, shopping, cooking, checking emails I have bought an obelisk and some plant pokes. So, total extent of gardening today is ... putting the obelisk where I planted two clematis and put the plant pokes in the area I sowed some seeds direct :heehee:
Probably will have the time to have a cuppa in the arbor before I have to go to a Nurse appointment.

we actually found a nice guy to help with the raking, (yes still doing that) . Lots are coming up, I think this weekend I can do a walk around movie, as it will be sunny. Have to start some seeds soon. I might lend them out to my neighbor who can watch them in her garden room while we are on holiday.

I was sifting some compost today and came across two germinating seeds. I think they are probable Nectarine. I had a lot of success with a peach tree a few years back so I may will be lucky with these. I have now planted them on in the conservatory. Watch this space.

A sad pre-Winter hanging basket of variegated ivy and Purple " Winter flowering purple Violas has suddenly picked up in the last couple of weeks and it has potential for a respectable display until the Summer bedding's ready. I bought a half tray of Sorbet Orange violas, transferred it all to a larger basket and lined it with Humax MPC.
I think it'll be OK in a few weeks - I'll take a piccie if it comes good,

I wasn't doing any jobs in my garden today, but doing a bit of plant research in the gardens of this house for Lolimac. Of course other half and I had to take advantage of lunch in the restaurant there beforehand, sustenance was needed for the long stroll to follow. :heehee:

I am shattered! Done loads today. Mainly weeding, direct sowing, potting on and clearing/raking leaves and some brambles in no mans land. Popped to wyevale and got 22 geranium plugs so potted those on too. Going to have tons of bluebells to dig up soon, not looking forward to that!
When OH got home we spent some time (until it was dark!) hacking down some of the pamphas grass as we are going to hopefully build my new raised bed tomorrow!

Worked in the front garden for a bit today:

                            Planted out some dahlia tubers

Dug out some iris foeteidissima which were taking over the place

Dug out some hogweed which was also taking over in a couple of beds - that was a bit backbreaking as they didn't want to give up their spots. Hopefully I won but I'm not convinced I got all of it out

Dug up and replanted some day lilies into a better spot (ie not where I wanted to plant the dahlias)

Raked off some moss and grass

Then sat out in the gorgeous sunshine for a few hours
