I've got one in my garden ... in a pot  I get a handful of nuts each year. Ok, so I can't go into business with them, but it is still a lovely feeling seeing them ripen.

They can always be pruned regularly to keep them smaller. :blue thumb:

Well, not warm out there again today! Achieved lots though. Got other fuchsias and verbenas re-potted into different mixtures of compost with varying grades mixed. Just to monitor results. Primroses and bulbs planted and loads of clearing up. We need to go back to see dad tomorrow and stay the night. I get to spend time in studio with guitar and then we will bring him back with us until the weekend. Can then carry on with garden. He he! Good times. Stay warm people.

Blazing sun and mild temp' in the back garden all day, so spent the afternoon out there pottering about.
              • Planted out two little red currant cuttings I got from Poundworld. (variety: Jonkheer van Tets)
              • Repotted a little rosemary plant I got from Homebase.. it was half price because its pot was cracked. When I get round to the “bigger” garden work such as making raised beds I’ll plant it out there, but it can live in a pot until then.
              • Built a tripod trellis thing, stuck it in the ground, and transplanted a couple of baby bramble vines underneath it. (they were "fugitives" in the plum tree bed before I dug it up/turned it over, and I love wild brambles, so I'm gonna let them grow on!)
              • Put together two “grow your own” strawberry kits (Alpine variety: Baron von Solemacher) that will now live in the bathroom until they're ready to go out to the summer house.
              • Gave the rose a tiny amount of pruning, hoping to stop it being straggly this summer.

                Hi All,

Notched out some fence posts for the new chicken run and gave them a coat of creoseal. Then dug out where I want the new path, ready to lay on Wednesday, but I have done my back on and can hardly move. I'm going to go for a walk in a minute as sitting down is really making it worse.

I had a lovely walk around the garden, then cleaned out the hens, then the hens helped me to do some weeding ! I had a general tidy up & sweep, whilst the hens raked the drive! :heehee: (The hens have hardly eaten any of their food today but their crops are full, I guess they've found lots of bugs to gobble up!)
I can't believe how many stinging nettles are already creating under the fence from the field behind us! :hate-shocked:
I'm tired now I'd cleaned the house, done the grocery shop & been for lunch before I ventured out into the garden! It was so nice to get so much done though

I'm sure you lot are hinting for me to get a nut tree!? I'm easily swayed..

@BeeHappy I think that maybe it! I've got them in the porch and the temp drops too much in the night as its part of a shed. Noticed my tomato have popped up in the house but not out there! Cats are knocking most of my pots off the window so they have nowhere else to go. Ahh cats! :gaah:
