This farmer had a busy day. Spelling his political views, using manure.... :)

Ouch!!! Most of my stuff like that is knocked up from bits from my shed or otherwise recovered from somewhere - not as pretty I must admit but I like the 'rustic' look :snork::whistle:

p,s. forgot to say Lori, as you probably heard Tony Warren, creator of Corrie, died, so I would expect all sorts of 'specials' and retrospectives upcoming which you may enjoy.

      • Started digging out the new flower bed in the front garden. Tough work on the back and ankle as the soil is also much more clay than in the back garden, making the digging over much harder work! :phew:
      • Planted out a nice forsythia (variety: "Weekend") in the corner of the newly dug portion of bed.
      • Sowed some sweet pea seeds in propogators in the summer house.
      • Also sowed some "hanging basket seed mix" (white petunia, yellow petunia, red lobelia, white lobelia) and left those in the summer house too.

After yesterday's wind I needed to redo the fleece protection on my new little bed as it had been shredded. Took my old veg frame apart that I knocked together last year. Re-used old poles and secured together to make a stronger frame. Got bulbs planted, labeled and covered. Was a lovely day in garden today. Lots of bird life too. Back to dad's tomorrow for weekend to sort his balcony out. Photos to follow in future thread. Ha. Ha. I spent a couple of hours (in sunny Ramsgate) replacing a plastic cover on my blow-away growhouse using sheet plastic and tape, i couldn't get a new cover to fit. I don't have the room for a proper greenhouse.

John, I kept my old cover that was full of holes but placed polythene on frame and tacked with gaffer tape. Then replaced old cover over top and cable tied onto frame. Felt it would be more secure that way.

Hi Rustler, I reinforced the frame a few weeks ago, the zips went on the old cover, I left it on and covered with polythene and used clear gaffer tape. Like you I have cable tied the frame to the wall. Hope this makes sense:spinning:

They certainly don't last. Ha ha. As for the zips, 2 layers of strong gaffer tape, the proper stuff! Folded onto and around edge of zips to give some thickness. Then make holes at intervals down the edges. Repeat for door edge and put a cable tie ring through the holes leaving a loose curtain type ring. Then use cord to thread through like a shoe lace. Worked for me last year and will do again for this year. He he.

That's a good idea, shame that I've removed the zips completely now. I'll make a wooden door frame and door for next season. My garden is very sheltered so the door is never over in the summer as it gets too hot for the Toms. I bought a couple more smaller Blow-aways at Wilko with 4 spare covers in the sale for £3 each.

Finally got myself around to do some tiding up in the GH.
Sown some black cherry, sungold, tigerella tomatoes.
Finally got the father in law back form the coroners after 4 weeks so now can plan the funeral.
Is really Starting to get me down.

I actually managed to get out into the garden today. Made a start on the Spring hedging, then shredded the cuttings. A rather enjoyable day out there, despite the cold.
