Managed to get in the garden today and tidied up a little. Dusted off the large propagator ready for sowing some stuff tomorrow hopefully.

I was hoping to get outside this weekend while the weather is good but it doesn't look like it's going to happen......to many distractions!

        This weekend I have:

        - cleaned out and reordered the shed
        - thrown away two Fuchsia 'Hawkshead' because I needed the pots but also because they had rust as well as what looked like Fuchsia gall mite - taking no chances.
        - moved the third one out the front into the white front garden I have been planning, really excited about that the front :) Hard pruned it to remove all leaves.
        - repotted the two Viburnum tinus standards (my first garden purchase made off the back of Gardener's Corner recommendations!) into two of the big pots that were housing the fuchsias. The plan is to get one more to complete the set.
        - sown a bunch of seeds for the allotment
        - potted up all the Dahlia tubers

Everything is locked and loaded in our garden now, buds are all swelling up on Sambucus, Acers and Parthenocissus, and tulips sprouting all over the place.

Whilst under strict instructions not to do much I got 20 minutes of trimming lawn edges. :)

The gangmaster was there to make sure I didn't do too much. She had to do the picking up of the trimmings.

I spent today helping our new neighbour with her garden. Their's is a corner plot like ours with a slightly different layout. The house had been empty for almost a year so we did lots of pruning, tidying and weeding. Filled 2 brown bins. Really enjoyed it, it's nice to have a new friend who shares my interest. We might need to reinstate the gate that used to link the 2 gardens though!

Nothing outdoors, it is freezing here and a nasty old northerly. Got some jobs to do later in the week when it is forecast much milder.

Been tending things in the garden room and things seem to be doing fairly well considering the temperature variations - today with sun 22c and without 8c within a few hours. Fatsia seems to need a surprising amount of watering. Things starting to put on growth. Had to re-stake my now 5 ft tall geranium.

Another busy day. Removed old soil from various beds. I made a big mistake last year by using his old soil that needed to be moved and brought it over here on sacks in back of jeep. It was awful quality but free and was lacking finances. I knew it wasn't a good move but wanted to experiment to prove a point.

It didn't do too bad as a veg plot but today I removed most of it and replaced with a mixture of compost, manure and bonemeal all sieved into a bag and raked in. Had a big tidy up and weeding session and planted 100 bulbs all labeled and logged.

It wasn't warm out there today but I achieved mostly what I needed to do! All plants that needed covering from frost also covered. Most enjoyable.

Pottered about in the greenhouse for a while today.

A lot of the winter salad plants had begun to bolt and needed sorting out, several of the 'Tatsoi' Pak Choi plants had formed flower stalks, so I cut these off and tried stir frying them for lunch, very tasty they were too. :)

Sowed tomatoes (Gardener's Delight and Beefmaster) and peppers (Arianne and Beauty Bell) in the heated propagator.

Tried out the steam cleaner on the greenhouse glass, very happy with how it stripped off the hard old algae. Weeded greenhouse border and tidied up pots with cuttings. What a beautiful day, a pleasure to be outside
