Dug out the old compost bin, didn't do it last year on account of being mad.

Some lovely filth in there :)

Filled a dumpy bag to the brim with half rotted stuff from Sis's random pile, taking out the big logs, coconuts, plastic bags and tools etc.

Potted up the mini daffs and lungwort that were growing in the heap, then drove to Salisbury and back to see Willow's new (15th century) place :)

She'm planning a herb garden in the back :)

Anything I pot up can be sold at the National Trust garden I work in, goes toward funding the rest of the garden :spinning:

Yep, got never ending man's work to do here too  :snorky:

The hazy blue skies, warm sunshine was too much for me so I wandered into the garden with secateurs in hand. I pruned the 30 years old Buddleja and shredded the pruning's for the Compost Heap. The Buddleja is the only plant that will cause me problems as the fine poilen and dust off it causes me to cough and splutter when I prune it:gaah::doh: So that was an excuse to take a short break and take a mug of coffee down to the pond for a sit and contemplate. I found two or three more jobs to do while sitting there and looking around!! Then I tied up the 50 or so Clematis around the Trellis Entrance and seeing all the new growth they're putting out. I got the stiff brush out and swept the main centre path clear of plant debris but realised that there was a lot more to be taken from the borders.........a tomorrow job!! I'm also contemplating making a path, from some left over cobbles when the base of the Observatory was made, from the main path across the lawn border to make easier access to the lawn......we'll see.:coffee::snork:

What a beautiful day, and right now what a beautiful moon Nd stars
Made a start on the dreaded ground elder, why does it grow so close to other plants? Is there some kind of synergy? Moved a variegated Aconitum from under the plum tree, and planted a few bits of salvia glutinosa in some bare patches- my that is a survivor!

Congratulations on the baby news @CharlieBot ! :) I'm not surprised you're tired, you shouldn't be doing all that in a day!

Like Joolz, I've emptied and spring cleaned my greenhouse this afternoon. All I need now is a few more degrees in over night temperature then I can put it to more use. :)

I did nothing in the garden but Mrs Shiney has started tidying up the greenhouse (those of you that know will realise that could take a few weeks - but it won't, as we never get past the initial tidying :heehee: ). She's also sorting out some of the plants for the alpine garden pots that we sell on Open Day and these will be supplemented with plants that we picked up at a local nursery. At the nursery we also bought some plants for splitting and taking cuttings for sale (the nursery always gives us a discount as it's for charity and they always put up a poster for the event :blue thumb:)

From the nursery we went on to Anglesey Abbey where we spent a couple of hours wandering around. Went into their plant sale area. Lovely healthy looking plants but at twice the price we could get elsewhere. :rolleyespink:

Mrs Shiney then did a load of weeding from dusk until dark whilst I had a cuppa, put my feet up (was suffering just a bit) and watched TV.

@Trunky Can you send Mrs Trunky down here as our mower is a bit too heavy for Mrs Shiney? :)

Give her our best wishes  and tell her she has to post some photos on GC for us all.

Wonderful news!!! :hapydancsmil: Congratulations to you and MrBot :ccheers: and hoping we don't have a scorcher of a summer so you don't melt in August. I had an August baby and it was a scorcher of a summer. In the final couple of weeks I ended up sleeping on a sun lounger in front of the open patio doors :snorky:
So, now begs the question ... which tree are you going to plant when Baby Bot arrives to commemorate the birth (and to be used as a height chart comparison)?

I probably overdid things a bit today but was getting fed up not getting much done

I decanted two more 70 litre bags of compost into buckets for Mrs Shiney. Then decanted the 20kg back of bird feed into their containers. I can usually carry the bag from the front right round to the summerhouse so I can tip it into the containers but can't lift it at the moment.

Had some lunch and a rest and then mowed this back lawn (Mrs Shiney emptied the box for me) and the one behind the trees. :blue thumb: K-N-Ackerd now and hobbling  :dunno:

Decided to make a start on the edging this afternoon, like you @shiney I'm doing it in short bursts. I got about 50 yards done around the veg plots, before the hand started to ache a bit.

The chickens were happy though, they were delighted to have several loads of grass edgings to scratch about in. :)

Guys, guys, guys!!! WHAT are you both like? :wallbanging:
And ... you are surprised? :psnp: A gentle squeeze of warmth to heal the soul so your mind can get on with healing the body :grphg:
Glad of your photo though ... I am sitting there right now (well, in my minds eye) feeling a huge sense of: c.a.l.m. :wub2:

25yds should have been your limit :nonofinger: Baby steps, baby steps Mr T! (And a quickie healing hug for your aches :grphg: )

Didn't do anything earth shattering today, but, I have popped some sunflower seeds into the earth, re-potted polyanthus (which I won last year in a raffle) into a small, wide, shallow terracotta pot which now sits handsomely on the patio table; filled a tub with compost and planted a combo of seeds: sunflower, nasturtium and sweet pea (it won't break the bank if it doesn't work, but will bring great joy if it does :heehee: ). Theory being the sweet peas will utilise the sunflower stalks as "stakes".

Ozzy "scarified" the lawn after a 'mishap' and the girls were out on slug patrol for the day.

I've now decided that the patio area should be given a "courtyard" look/approach, so I'm going to be on the look out for containers. Note to self: go to Boot Fairs!
