After finishing work, managed to mow the moss (lawn :heehee:)
Edging I'll do tomorrow, plan was to do it tonight but little Mowgley wanted to play footy :dbgrtmb:
Must get some lawn sand this week along with some more compost.
        Can't believe I've used 125l this week.

Sowing seeds, including re-sowing the basil and nicotiana as the first lot dried out and died on the propagator while I was away at the weekend - doh! First lot of the new grasses have gone in today.

I'm finding artichokes quite difficult to take. It seems really important to keep a plastic bag on until they fully root.

And the Rhodochiton atrosanguineus aren't showing any sign of life.

Melianthus major is coming on strong though.

How about Betula Jacquemontii? It's one of the silver birch varieties and grows very well in our climate and is quite striking as a specimen tree. The bark is a beautiful white colour and is easy to keep like that. If it starts to get any mould on it, as trees do, it washes off with a mild solution of washing up liquid.

Which is what they do here:-

Not a great start to my day..Woke up to 2 trays on the floor, one flat of lobelia and a tray with potted up marigold and larkspur seedlings in... begrudgingly give the cats breakfast then cleaned up the mess, only lost one I think, went to the porch few of the fibre pots have gone white with mould so need to urgently move them to some plastic pots and I have those b*****d flies again, so quite cheesed off! Cosmos have popped up, fuschias are looking good, echinacae and red hot poker have all greened up nicely though, so not all bad. Nice cuppa, wrap me and the little one up and we're gonna give the grass it's first cut, been nagging Mr Lynd and he reckons its too early..sod him he can't say anything when he's in work! Depending on energy levels may dig in the raspberries/apple tree.. been dying with woman flu last week so haven't done jack! :sick0026:

Good morning to day I have some digging to do in the new bed in front of the shed,my sons have got us some Dahlias and 70 cottage garden bulbs bless them(just the first of many) ;) as I have always said that if they want to treat their Mum and Dad always buy us plants for the garden, that way they are there year after year as an everlasting memory:smile:

Do I put the Dahlias in pots or wait until April?May and put them straight in to the ground:dunno:

Oh bless you, thanks M, I really do need one! Hopefully just sweated a good bit out of me, grass cut and dug up a climbing rose and the pieris and put them in pots. No more in garden today though just had words with the other neighbour.. ugh. Will re-pot the mouldy petunias later on tonight, I can't have muddy paws going to parents evening!

Gorgeous trees but no space for one (i used up the area with another tree a couple of years ago), I'll have a quick look for Bethany or first-born themed plants

Did another 50 yards of edging this afternoon. Made a few slight modifications to some of the curves and corners of the beds while I was at it, should make mowing a little easier. :)

The name Bethany means "house of figs" ... so, how about a potted fig tree?
Or, there is a rose called "Our Beth"; very girly and pretty.

                                Hi Mowgley,

Well done, how long roughly did germination take ? I'm still waiting for my F. Procumbens, they've been in about 3 weeks now.
