Thanks again Sheal, it was weed and feed and lack of knowledge that did it last year, I repaired the burnt parts and got it back in fair shape, I now manually weed,

I bought a Miracle-Gro Soluble Feeder and fed the lawn when I did the borders once a month, it was fine for the lawn but slightly burnt a few leaves on certain plants round the border nothing serious, this year I think I will just use the watering can,

A bit more border dug today, lots of work to do this year, my main priority will be getting the greenhouse operational its a shed atm, still lots of work to do in the summer house, then two patios and a shed, I am sure it will be worth the time and effort in the end :-).

Final task of the day before daylight gave way to the night sky, was to give all the pots a dose of slow release fertilizer granules. First time I've used those but, I think, I recognise them now from when I've bought pot plants in the past (so *that* is what those teeny orangey balls were!)
Its an on-going education, gardening :heehee:

I've built a bubble wrap tent over part of my staging in the greenhouse and moved some of the seedlings out today. Most of my window sills are to narrow so I have very little room indoors for growing on. I only hope it's warm enough for them so an inspection in the morning will give me the answer.

More seedlings potted on and the last of the trays for germination are now in my propagator. :)

That's a lot of seeds Anthony :), looks like you have been very busy, I've always wanted to have a go at Chrysanthemums but I believe they are quiet hard to grow and look after? :dunno:

                Hi Apple Blossom,

I only do a few of each because as you know we only have pots and containers. To be honest it's a bit of a pain as some ( cornflower/candytuft/godetia/poppy etc ) are better sown direct, but I can't do that as everywhere is gravelled.

These are annual Chrysanthemums, very easy to grow. They originate from a wild cornfield flower. Although they're the same family they're nowt like the florist type of Chrysanthemum, these are like white daisies with different bands of colour on the petals.

Oh they sound just up my street :) I like things that are easy to grow :heehee: I'm glad you said about the cornflower etc. as I just scattered some amongst what I have planted so that it gave the area some character, height and colour... I'm hoping that it will encourage bee's and butterflies.

Before I moved I only had a court yard and planted lots and lots in pots, old chimney pots, baskets and anything I could find to plant in... and got great satisfaction that it looked great... I'm really looking forward to seeing what you have grown this year....

I even use Mr AB old boots... which I planted a couple of years ago whilst in Northop and they have come up again this year... Postman loves them as they are just under the post box :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

They'd look great in the Summer with some trailing Lobelia coming out of them :)

I've got the next six days off work, having a long Easter weekend, so I've lined up a 'project' which I've been meaning to tackle for some time now.

At the back of our garden, behind the chicken run, is about six yards of old 'post & wire' fencing which is slowly falling apart and needs replacing. I'm replacing it with wooden pallisade fencing, to match the adjoining fence along the rest of that boundary line.

                            DSC08313.JPG

                            DSC08314.JPG

I want to leave some space between the chicken run and the new fencing, so I can plant something between them, maybe a hedge or similar. So first job is to move the back end of the chicken run in a yard or so, before I can start on the fencing.

Given my terrible DIY skills, and the weather forecast over the next few days, it promises to be an 'entertaining' weekend. Watch this space.
