And if she was like my mother would be saying some other time "a little bit of dirt hurt no one!" :snorky:

We've had to have another tree removed from the garden for 'Elf & Safety reasons. :cry3:

We spotted some damage at the base of the tree and had it checked out

          P1270909.JPG

It turned out to be rotten right the way through

This is a picture of our poplars, taken a few years ago, a short time after one of the main trunks of the second from the right had snapped and come down (across nasty neighbour's garden :heehee:). We'd had that removed and all the trees reduced by 30ft. It's the same tree that was the problem this time.
          P1110762.JPG

          So it had to go.
          P1260152.JPG

There were a couple of trunks like this
          P1260159.JPG

          P1260157.JPG

Just leaving the stump - which we are keeping as it is, as a bug habitat.
          P1270919.JPG

It saved us £100 burning it rather than having them cart everything from the bottom of the garden out to the road. :blue thumb:

          P1270913.JPG

It's still burning after two days.

We now have a gap and some people have already commented on the fact that a local landmark has disappeared (the trees could be seen for about a mile).

Crikey, that has left a gap @shiney - good idea leaving the stump for the bugs

Nice haul! But ... do save a little space for Shineyland "spontaneous buys" :heehee:

Blimey it's tough dismantling my deck! Been at it for hours and it looks as though I've been loafing the whole time...

@shiney the tree surgeon wasn't wearing any protection! It only takes one kick from the saw.

Picture five.......I could see something like this  .......

Given how nice it was today I should have been down the allotment but instead I popped to the garden centre and spent the day in our garden. I repotted a few of the plants that definitely needed it, like some salvias. I planted out the three little Echinacea 'Fatal Attraction' that I got end of last year (at the other end of the garden from where my previous one was too fatally attractive and got a fungal disease).

Sowed some poppy, lupin, amaranthus and nasturtium seeds.

The big job has been dividing my Canna which appears to have very, very happily overwintered outside here. I got five bulbs out of the one plant, all potted up now :) They really grow quickly!

                      Hi All,

Layed the path in the greenhouse, Layed the path at the side of where the chickens will go, Layed some blocked outside the greenhouse, cut out and removed some slabs and block around the chickens.
Wanted to get the frame for the coop and run, but I have that much to get rid of there is no room. Need to do about 4 tip runs, but it closed at 2 today, I have next week off, but the weather is filthy and my car is in for new clutch on Wednesday. Not sure how much more I will be able to do next week.

                      Rusty

Cut the grass again, weeded the beds and transplanted my sister's rhubarb that my she left me when she moved.

Some of the plants have died in that bed and we need to get a bit of structure to it quickly. So we shall be digging out something from elsewhere and moving it in with the newer plants. Hopefully it will survive.

He did have protection - helmet and face mask - but he had removed them whilst he was sharpening the blades on his chainsaw. I presume he's left-handed as I can see the file in his left hand. :blue thumb:
