Pricked out stocks and white sunflowers. Potted on a few things. Then went on a wood aven murder mission, needless to say my back is killing me now! Resting up before a fish and chip tea.

Spent an hour or so weeding my two tier bed then followed that by tidying up the pots on the patio. Checked the greenhouse and discovered two or three cosmos seedlings had been stripped to the stalk, so a snail/slug hunt ensued. It didn't take long to find the culprit.....a huge snail which had a flying lesson over the fence on to the road beyond. :)

Hi Sheal, I'm glad I'm not the only one who teaches snails etc how to fly. If I do it when my moms around she tells me off saying that I'll hit somebody one day :roflol:

I always check before I toss them over Anthony. It's an unmade road so I can here any movement on it anyway.

We could have a snail throwing competition. We'd have to be honest though :roflol:

                - Top dressed some more pots.
                - Moved the solanum crispum from one part of the garden to the rear fence.
                - Mr "M" dug over the ground where the girls range (and that earth will, eventually, fill a raised bed).
                - Received the free wildflower seeds from "Grow Wild with Kew" :hapydancsmil: doubly exciting because I'd forgotten about them :heehee: They are now sown around the solanum and fingers crossed they will grow.
                - Lawn mown.
                - Moved some more pots around ... slowly but surely the dullest corner, with not a lot of sunshine, is filling up with pots and creating a "woodland" feel; which is the whole idea as that is where the back gate is

Starting to really get a "feel" for this garden now. Still hankering after my old one, but, less so as I get to grips with this one.

Done a couple of hours weeding the top border... Still can't see where I've been, but the two large trug-fulls of weeds must mean I've made some progress?!

Oh, and a bit of retail therapy, chez Lidls. 6 trailing geraniums reduced by 30%, but still looking good, 6 fuchsias, and a couple of oesteospernums... Should put a little colour in a bed, somewhere!

Just a few bits and pieces this afternoon. Pruned a couple of Cornus 'Midwinter Fire' which are in large pots, so they have time to put on plenty of growth for a good display next winter.

Also coppiced a couple of large stems from a hazel in the wild area, the twiggy branches from which I've pushed into the ground in the herbaceous border to support some self-seeded sweet peas which have popped up in there.

In the veg patch, sowed some more radishes, mixed lettuce and spring onions. In the greenhouse, made my first sowing of sweet corn.

You'd probably win Anthony, I'm hopeless at throwing things......now give me a bat and things might be different. :heehee:

You did better than me Loofah! I sat in the garden and sanded down the wooden number plaque for my house, it needs refurbishing. :) Then I went off for a forty minute session in the dentist's chair.

How about if we get you a massive great cricket bat ..... You go to the other side of the island and whack it and I stand on Blackpool prom and catch it :)

That's a good idea, but we'd have to wait for the right wind direction and knowing the Irish Sea that could take years! :heehee:

Cracking day peaking at 24.9° :) so we put the wooden bed edges in, scattered bark chips where the rotten old lawn was, dug out a nasty clump of horsetail weed, took more rubble to the tip and utterly despaired at the twigs that remain on eight new clematis following, I think, a slug banquet. Tomorrow I'll be buying some bigger clematis as I desperately want to get the fences covered, but for now a nice cold beer :)

Another gorgeous day so did more weeding and feeding. Husband mowed the lawn so dud some edging then helped my neighbour do some weeding too.
Finally sowed more white sunflowers, verbena, asters and trying busy lizzies from seed too.
