Not bothering putting my seedlings in and out of the GH to harden off this year . It's such a pain emptying the greenhouse every ,morning at 6:30 and putting them back in the evening. Temps have been up and down like crazy over the last few weeks plus my Parasene ( useless bit of junk ) heater keeps going out. I think my plants are as hard as the paras now. I am leaving the GH door open at nights now . The baskets will be out after the weekend !
Bought a lovely cordyline for a big planter I have . I will slowly kill it over winter as usual  Be asking for advice on it this November folks :blue thumb:

      Hi Harry,

      Welcome to my World :)

Nothing of mine gets hardened off.

I live in an eighth story flat with no outdoor space at all. My mom ( who I grow things for ) has a small garden and lives a good 10 minute walk away. If I had to carry everything I grow over there it would take me till 2 o'clock, then I'd be able to sit down, have a cup of coffee and then start bringing them all back again.

I had a productive day yesterday, some weed pulling whilst planting out cosmos , my 2 pots with obelisks planted up with morning glory and canary creeper, outed from G/H over wintered fuchsia, and numerous small jobs whilst I was looking at it,
What's the betting I only manage to get about half of that done?!
I actually did really well!

The only thing I didn't get done was the support systems for the veg bed. Umm, could be something to do with crashing out "needing to nap" after a couple of glasses of rose wine on an empty stomach...:heehee:

I will get the frameworks up today, and might even plant out some of the French beans, as we have mild nights forecast for the next week...

@NCFCcrazy I feel for you. Years ago my granddaughter pulled up all of my impatiens seedlings and tossed them into our hot tub - which I had just finished emptying, cleaning and refilling.

I am potting up more vegetables today and moving lots more out of the unheated greenhouses. The small one has had no heat now for a week and I shut off the heat in the bigger one night before last. Nobody seems to be upset which makes me happy with making that decision.:)

Work is getting in the way of my gardening exploits. Pesky work :snork:

Yesterday evening I picked up my first weedkiller (Roundup) from Wilkos and spent literally 45 minutes applying the fuzzy white liquid to every bindweed leaf I could find in the back garden. There must have been over 300 leaves or seedlings coming through, in open soil and also under the grassy stems, etc. Last year over the summer the back and the back right was a mass of those white flowering bindweed plants, this year I mean business!

The back garden I keep meaning to take a photo of, but forget. It's 80% concrete patio, and the rest expansive and neglected flower bed. It's a strange mix in that at the moment, the right hand side looks quite tidy and not too bad. Extensive weeding last year in this area, plus mainly container-plants and climbing plants up the brick wall makes it looks nice, so far. Especially for someone like me, who doesn't really know much about gardening - yet )

Sadly though the bed at the back is a mess of weeds. This is where I went Roundup crazy. We haven't planted anything else at the back at all, because I knew I needed to treat the weeds first.

I'll post a piccy up this weekend, bit of a juggling act at the mo - I bought all these plants and am still trying to sort the front garden too, just not enough time in the week!

I've got bindweed issues here too (neighbour one side doesn't garden so it all creeps in from there). Last year spent hours and weeks digging up every little root I could reach in the hope that I'd cured the problem: nopey! :nonofinger: I did use Roundup on a few pieces, but it definitely takes more than one application - hope you've stocked up ;)

This sounds highly likely. I think there might even be a crack squad of carrot flies with little pairs of scissors.

Then I'm going to attack the weeds coming from next doors jungle, they keep saying how nice my garden is and there's is a weed patch, does my head in :wallbanging:

We've been working like mad in the garden but the hot sun is making it difficult.

I've done over 30 hours of pressure washing and only a few more hours to go to finish it. The grass seems to be growing quicker than I can mow  Weeds seem to grow 12" overnight. :rolleyespink:

I guess that I spend 6 hours a week mowing and trimming the lawn edges. Spent over a week making the new flower bed (keep having to take rests because of my back and leg - doctor's orders ). Lots of general weeding etc. Yesterday I dug out 30 dandelions that I could have sworn weren't there the day before - although some of the roots were a foot long!

Mrs Shiney has been working much harder than me potting up, potting on, sowing, tidying and repotting lots of plants from the nursery beds. Generally tidying up around the garden and spending at least an hour a day watering pots and nursery areas with the hose - it would be impossible to do it with a watering can.

I've repaired some of the patio paving but shall get Michael to do some more temporary work on it. The area where the entertainers perform on Open Day will need a quick repointing and it's too much bending for me to do.

I need to try and see whether I can get the mower going as it packed up on me yesterday when I stopped to empty the box . I couldn't get it going again and only had it serviced a couple of weeks ago. It may just have had enough after two hours of work in the hot sun.

I also need to start work on putting up the heavy duty plastic trellis on all the neighbour's new fencing. This is 'nice' neighbour and he said he's looking forward to having all the annual flowers coming through to his side of the fence - as they did on the areas we grew them last year.

I need a rest after typing all this. :heehee:
