went out to buy more pots and baskets yesterday.. came back with more plants and no pots/baskets :snork:

3 lots of petunias, 2 lots of lobelia, tray of 6 patio princess fuschia, tray of nemesia, tray of white trailing geraniums, a salmon pink geranium, an apple blossom pelargonium, a rose gazania, 6 penstemons for $1 (3 might not make it) and a tray of verbena for 50p (swapped 2 pants looking ones for snapdragons ) 20160523_102259.jpg 20160523_102303.jpg

b&q job, didn't have any of verve 2 for £5 compo was gonna give it a go..

Dropped off the eldest to school and went to pick up some milk this morning.. noticed the local handyman shop got his bedding plants out so had a lil nosey.. picked up 5 trailing fuschia, dancing flame, 2 blue eyes and 2 blue mirage, £1 each :) 20160523_102231.jpg

Think I best go out and buy some more pots/baskets.. And get my ass moving!

Lovely day again here, sunny mostly and mild so took another day off and spent it in the garden.

Took the usual spring photos of all of the garden (as a record and also to identify anything overcrowded or that needs moving later in the year). If I say so it is looking nice and after 5 years really coming together how I want it. The arbour area is really starting to look like it belongs now the new plants are plumping up around it. The big border that was a rubbish dump when I inherited it is finally looking half decent. Got a bit obsessed with the curves on the lawn edges it seems ;)

OH mowed the grass. I hand-weeded the two areas I'd reseeded earlier in the year, pleased with how the areas look especially the big circular area where a sickly old birch came out of though it is a different green from the rest. Will soon blend in.

Put out a plum moth trap (first time I've tried this, basically a pheremone sticky sheet in what looks like a mini tent hung from the tree). Couple of years ago plums were badly affected so fingers crossed. Have plans for lots of plum jam later in the year.

Bit more digging of the spanish bluebell area, will look a mess for a while but needs must and it is in a bit of a hidden corner.

Potted up most of the small herbs into bigger pots - love fresh herbs when cooking.

Tried to sort the rhubarb that had bolted while away, hope the produce more.:fingers crossed:

Lots of pruning in the woody area, got really overgrown the last month. The overarching beauty bush and hawthorn are especially lovely this year.

      Lots more weeding.

      GG

Note to self: Need to knuckle down to doing tax returns soon as well as other house maintenance jobs

They are a bit tricky aren't they? The last few years I have just knocked them out of their pots and split them into several pieces. They don't seem to mind this.
A good website with plenty of advice is this American one.

I'd planned to get bedding into the ground both yesterday and today but my newish neighbour, who lives at the back of my place is power tool mad and he's driving me the same way! He has a petrol hedgecutter/strimmer that never seems to see the inside of his shed and to be honest I don't think there's anything left in his gardens as he's also chain sawed the trees. If he starts again tomorrow he'll find himself wearing it as a scarf! :snorky: I can't work out there with that racket going on. :doh:Moan over!

              Sorry Sheal,

It's just the thought of him wearing it as a scarf that's funny :)

Not a problem. I don't think he'll find it funny though. I have a sneaking suspicion he's a police officer so I could find myself serving time for GBH.:snorky:

Your so kind Anthony. :) At least if I'm tucked away at Her Majesty's pleasure I won't have to listen to his noise. :heehee:
