Started veg growing this year and trying to keep up with what needs to be done, luckily a friend had gone on holiday and had way too many broad beans when he came back, so I am now the proud owner - hope I don't kill them off! He did give me good advice though. Lawn is looked after by hubby, although he hasn't mastered the knack of edging, which is down to me - have moved quite a few plants round, and added some new ones, so we will see how things develop ...

I planted out just under three quarters of my bedding plants today and have between fifty and sixty left to go in. :) Let's hope the slugs and snails behave themselves! :th scifD36:

I've done more digging of holes and planting out of plants. Have moved a decent sized acer from it's pot into the border to replace a small one which had died. Hopefully I didn't disturb its root ball too much (tried not to). I've moved a hydrangea from the front garden to the back and a deciduous azalea which was in a planter into the front garden.

One of these days I'll actually stop changing my mind about where to put what  But I wouldn't count on it :snorky:

I've now got three holes in the front garden behind the low hedge, where I'll be planting three hydrangeas (Vanille Fraise) which I've ordered to overhang the hedge. That'll be the front garden done apart from one gap between two roses where I've temporarily put a half hardy fuchsia until I decide what to fill it with.

In the back garden I have a space in a south facing border where I'm going to put a PeeGee hydrangea and some space in a west facing border (but under some trees) where I'm going to plant out some hostas. Might shove some in the north facing border too as I've got quite a few to go out.

Nowt due to vile weather, but can see a lot of cleaning up of leaves and branches that have been ripped off trees and flung all over my garden. Also could be re-staking some plants.

Planted out 10 sunflowers and 1 rudbeckia Goldsturm yesterday whilst my wife butchered a hydrangea! :yikes:
Got another 10 sunflowers and 5 rudbeckia still to plant, hopefully the rain will hold off tonight.

The only thing I did in the garden today was to tighten up the string supports around my two rows of autumn sown broad beans, which are nearly ready for picking and had taken a bit of a battering in last night's storm.

There seems to be much bad weather in the east :frown: I hope it cheers up for you all soon ...

We've been having nice weather here but I haven't been able to do much in the garden because of being quite unwell, but better this morning so hope to do something today !

Not so much in the garden but around it. I've made a start on repairing the fence to the front of the house. Not a good idea when the mercury is hitting 29C here.

Spent my afternoon off work taking clematis and fushcia cuttings, a lot more relaxing than being in the office

Well, I did quite a bit of tidying today - weeding, clipping and pruning, and also moved one or two little things to 'better' positions. I haven't got a neat garden. It's a bit wild really, so when I say I 'tidied' it, I really mean I made it a little bit less wild :snork:

Here are some views of the parts I 'tidied' (there's a lot more not fit to show yet ! those are for another day :spinning:)

                              Hi Michael,

It looks gorgeous to me :)

I like the rather wild gardens. I think that's why I live cottage garden plants so much. They're so informal and flop all over the place.

Not been feeling great today but managed to plant a few more things in the new border.
A blue salvia and a fair few white sunflowers and cosmos. All grown from seed.
I've sprinkled a few pellets just in case of a slug attack. Planted up a container with an osteospermum and 2 petunias. Still need to pull up the finishing wallflowers and forget me nots but that's a job for tomorrow if I feel better.
