Deadheaded the last of the spoiled roses. It's looking like some will rebloom.
Trimmed back the spirea which overhangs the path and pulled a few weeds.
Our garage extension is starting on July 23rd so need to get a nursery bed prepared at some point for the few plants that will be moving.

I took advantage of the dry weather today and trimmed 80ft of Escallonia hedging which I'm now paying for. Mr S usually helps me clear up but he's out of action after surgery. The hedge does look good now though. :)

Good morning I have just started to regain control over the bottom left hand side of my garden. It hought to myself get yourself out there Woo and show the garden who in charge,so without further ado I went and purchased some hedge clippers and removed 7 eight feet tall Bamboos,a gigantic Fatsia Japonica, and a large shrub which I keep forgetting the name of;)

The clippers are just fantastic (expensive but well worth the money

@wiseowl If I was still running my business I would have offered you a job :blue thumb: Those haircuts are better than mine :loll:

I did a bit of weeding and three hours of pressure hosing whilst Mrs Shiney did enough clearing and cutting back for a team of gardeners. :)

So far today I've just done 3 hours of weeding. Sad thing is, it was weeding between the paving slabs on the pavement outside the house (my legal responsibility here in Belgium), so I won't even get to enjoy the weed-free state!

Time to finish my 20 mins rest, and get out there to mow the grass. Ooooh - buzzard has just turned up outside, to keep me company!

Just cut all the lawns. Shhh! Don't tell Mrs Shiney or else I'll be in trouble :rolleyespink:. If she doesn't go down to the end of the garden she may not notice.

                  Yesterday was a little productive:
~ trimmed the lower branches of the Choisya to let more light in for the plants below
~ trimmed the top half to neaten it up (may stimulate some autumn flowers :fingers crossed: )
~ cut back the geraniums under the choisya ( :fingers crossed: for 2nd flush later in the season)
~ potted up the 3 bronze fennel and put them where I hope to plant them on next year
~ made up a pot with 1x sage, 2x lemon thyme and 2x Little Leo sunflowers
~ planted a pot with a Japanese Anemone (from village plant sale)
~ transplanted a clematis (Mrs G Jackman) out of a pot and into the ground
~ tied up the solanum which hasn't simply survived being transplanted back in March but is positively thriving in its new position
~ re-jiggled the poles that I have put in place as markers for where I may put the shed to give me a visual indication of how it might look. Need to live with that for a couple of weeks to see if I still like it :heehee:
~ fed all the pots and tubs with liquid feed
~ harvested some tayberries and loganberries, but, the birds are getting there before me most days
~ pulled up all the perpetual spinach which I planted last year; this year they have bolted.
~ harvested some wild garlic seeds.
~ "spot" treated yet more bindweed (all coming through courtesy of Mr Neighour-Who-Does-Not-Garden :rrant: )
~ recycled 2 "Giant Crumpet" trays for pot saucers
~ threw all the cuttings into the chickens garden for them to scratch through; anything left will go in the compost bin in a couple of days time.

And that was enough for one day. Today is gloomier on the weather front, so nothing planned for today out there. We'll see :heehee:

Not strictly something that I am doing in the garden, as I'm stuck in the office, but something we are having done.
These trees are getting a tad large for our garden and they are being trimmed today :-
                    IMG_3052.JPG
Two are in our garden and the next door neighbour is having the third reduced in height, in his garden. (Marked in red are ours, yellow is his):-
                    treecircle.jpg

My wife has just sent through the following picture of the work so far on his tree :-
                    IMG_3053.JPG
More of a tree removal than reduction in height!
I'm a bit worried what I will find when I go home! :hate-shocked:

Crikey! Maybe your neighbour decided to get rid of it instead of trimming it?
You are going to have a lot more light in your garden now @ballistic_bro

Yep, that's exactly what he did @"M" as the tree surgeon said it would look odd just trimmed. The light in that end of the garden now is unbelievable.

Up early this morning setting the sprinklers and watering pods up for when I go away tomorrow ironically in the pouring rain .
Fed the lawn and dead headed everything and moved all the pots to the north side of the house. Left the front for a friend to water :)
