The sun has been blazing hot and the temperature about 32, or above, for the last several days, so I am keeping a low profile. I did manage to harvest some garlic while sitting in the shade.

I spent an hour tidying my rose bed, dead headed and removed some awkward stems, then weeded and gave them their last feed of the season. That'll stop it from raining because I want it watered in!:biggrin:

There's very little to be done at this time of year, just a matter of keeping things tidy and mowing the lawns, even they have slowed down in growth because of the lack of rain.

Went to a couple of nurseries with my neighbour and helped her choose some plants.
Pulled a few weeds and picked off black spotted leaves on the roses. Put some bunting up for tomorrow (baby shower) and watered most things. Husband repotted some roses, clematis and a suffering camellia for me. Greenhouse is getting so hot atm, need to remember to damp the floor down more really.

Garage work starts tomorrow so had no choice but to move and pot up some small shrubs today. Back is killing me!

Thank you @Sheal! Yes not long now.
You flatter me with that pic @wiseowl, but I'm not complaining!
They knocked down our garage today, as we are having it extended. Nosy neighbour (never normally acknowledges us) came over to ask what's going on. Finished the conversation by complimenting the garden (they can see in now)...creeps! I guess you can't see couch grass from 50 paces. :noidea:

Pulling bindweed, fireweed and cutting stingy spikes off the back fence..tidied up pots, repotted 2 fuchsia, pansies, glads, sorting strawb runners, more weeding, pulled up rest of spuds and put soil on front bed, found a self seeded carnation (I think), had a pink one which I moved to the front bed and noticed a red one popped up in its place! Well happy, love free unexpected plants :) tea break now and then need to dig up my bleeding heart and potch with dahlias :) 1469879371044166463338.jpg 14698798433271694231401.jpg

Finally got a good few hours in the garden, the recent heavy showers have done wonders.
Lots of weeding and dead heading.

Pruned my dwarf "Manteau d' Hermine" Philadelphus giving it a good hair cut for next years flowering. Tied back the Rose "Alchemist" against the Arbour sides and front and gently bent some long vertical stems so that they were around the front. The 4 Honeysuckles on either side of the Arbour also needed tying back. I used the long pole loppers to cut back the really long stems of the climbing roses by the wild life pond which was a job that long needed doing!! Then I dead headed all the shrub roses in the borders, and for the first time in years managed to get

............right on the elbow!! I dug/pulled up lots of Teasel seedlings from the borders along with the finished Honesty plants that were there. After that I made a mug of tea and sat by the pond after turning on the feed hose for topping up the level of the pond and watch the insects flitting here and there until the pond was full and I could turn the hose off. After that I took out a young 8' sapling that was growing unwanted in the Jasmine and Clematis hedge and put it with the other stuff that will be burnt. And then, finally, I watered the Tomatoes in the Green House and gently tapped the plants to disperse the pollen.:coffee::snorky:
