That hedge is incredibly level - it's almost too perfect ;)

Thanks @clanless Nothing to do with me sadly. If I did it myself it wouldn't look like that. I'll pass on your comments though. :dbgrtmb:

I finished digging out the bed today along with a couple of large rocks that were buried. I need to get another large bag of compost for the worms to work on. :) The few plants I brought with me when I moved really need to go in the ground. A job for tomorrow.

I baked 36 gallons of soil today. Pleased about having that much to reuse :)

With our worldly posessions going into storage at the time I couldn't do that with the plants so the only available car space at the time was behind the front seats. I would like to have brought more and it was difficult to choose. So, room for only four plants....a geranium, my rare Iris and two equally rare, identical Fuschia's. Unfortunately I lost both Fuschia's last winter. Too cold outside and too warm inside!

The local handyman does the hedges. He does quite a few around the village. He lives about 4 doors from us. He's done a lot of work for us over the years.

Thanks "M". :) All may not be lost with the Fuschia's though, my brother took cuttings from the original plant that was in my late mum's garden. If they survive he's offered me one or two. They will have to go into pots and be stored in the garage over winter.

Well, I do bake it in the outdoor wood oven and use a roaster that will never be used again for human food. I have an old metal/enamel thunder mug that I use when harvesting my peppers etc. You should see the reaction from people uf I say "gee, what's that yellow colour on the bottom?" :heehee: don't have to share much produce those times...

I finished digging the new bed today and settled in the few plants I have at the moment. My thread below for those looking for pictures. :)

                                First bed, new garden.
