Are you allowed to say that in polite company? :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I've just finished mowing one of the back lawns (about 400sq metres) and the grass was about 6" high and wet! :rolleyespink: It was hard work and I'm stopping for lunch and have a rhubarb sponge cooking in the oven. I have to force myself to eat it as I have so much :heehee:

I picked 14lb of rhubarb on Tuesday (sold it all for charity) and this was what was left (the patch carries on to the right of the picture). The rhubarb was planted in 1953 and is still going strong.

IMG_0998.JPG IMG_1001.JPG IMG_1006.JPG IMG_1010.JPG IMG_1013.JPG @shiney and @Verdun the cherry tree is now at an angle propped up against the house wall and between us we have got it down but as the trunk is so big and heavy Mr Kandy is having to saw through it to remove it from what was the root system after he had sawn through them.He had ropes tied to the trunk which stretched down to the fence by the gate and then we both had a go at rocking the tree to free it.Whilst Mr Kandy went off to sort out the ropes after they had gone slack I gave the tree a real good push and managed to push it over just as Mr Kandy was starting to hold the top but I will let him think that we did the last part together :phew::snorky: I left him to start sawing through the trunk but as we had heavy rain again we have had a break for lunch and to recover:biggrin: I don't know how we are going to get the root ball into the car as it looks heavy and then he has to saw through the parts of the roots that are either marching towards the neighbours house or into our flower border:biggrin:

If we had known this tree was going to grow so big down at the roots we would have had second thoughts of buying one and we still have the Serulla to trim back and the apple tree and holly tree trunks to remove:sad:

By the way,the house you can see in the photo was built after we put the tree in the ground seven years ago and the tree is around ten years old.The stupid council passed the plans so that a builder could put in two houses(semis) whereas the original large builders plans showed we were going to have two garages next to us so the roots would possibly have gone under the garages not a house:sad:

Note to Self: do NOT annoy @redstar !

Well today, after dodging this morning's showers, pegging and re-pegging out the washing, I am about to go and cut the grass. We are having a BBQ here on Saturday, to mark 5 years of moving to this house. I hope the wind drops by then - so gusty at the moment!!

My lovely "proper" gardener has edged the rest of my back garden and it looks lovely. I did some last bits of weeding and swept paths. Wind has been disasterous and sweet peas having taken a battering. If Gardeners World don't like the Garden then they can lump it! :)

Feeling extremely nervous even after a LARGE glass of nz sauv blanc.

Yes, keep calm, think peaceful thoughts. Maybe another glass of wine ........ or perhaps not :heehee: . Don't want a hangover on top of nerves. I will be thinking of you tomorrow. Little River and little Zachary will send you some calming vibes :snorky:. She is currently led in front of the new sleeping box whilst Zachy is sleeping inside. Not sure if he won't let her in or she won't let him out  :loll:

Have a lovely lovely day tomorrow.

IMG_2585.jpg A glorious day here in Suffolk. Garden's looking good and not much to do today. Off out for some retail therapy and I'll try and keep away from garden centres and nurseries. Does anyone know what this climber is? - I sowed the seeds (free with Garden News) way back and I've lost the packet.
