If I cut it back and leave it another year, is it likely to survive the move. I have enough mini projects on to keep me going for the time being.

On the question of climbers for the shed. If I grew honeysuckle from one side and winter jasmine from the other. Could I train them to interlink thus creating all year interest?

      Hiya Gary :)
I would cut the holly to those new shoots now. Keep watered. Move when you like later...autumn or winter
A word of caution about honeysuckles, some varieties suffer markedly if the soil gets dry. Serotina, for example ( a fav of mine) is susceptible to mildew and drops its leaves.
Yes, you can link in the way you suggest......how about a summer flowering jasmine next to winter one? Or, the classy trachelospermum?

Spent an unsuccessful few hours searching for a pink Geranium. Neither garden centres on the Island had any so had a trip to Bangor and none there either. Plenty of blue Geraniums though. I can't finish the bed out front until I have the pink Geranium. I've not had very positive experiences with online garden suppliers so not keen on that but if I can't source one I suppose I might have too.

Vented my frustrations this afternoon with ripping out and sorting out the raised bed on the patio. Watered and fed most of the pots/baths/sinks and then watered and fed all the pets and then watered and fed hedgehogs, both inside and out, and finally watered and fed us.

No. I guess you're going to tell me I should have started at the other end. My wife did. To be fair, she was rather chuffed with my efforts.

@luciusmaximus Im not displeased with my effort. It's annoying that I had to stop when I did. I don't know when I will have a chance to get back to it. In the meantime there's a whole bucket of glue that's going to waste.

@luciusmaximus Whenever I went near Bangor I always wanted to sing "Didn't we have a lovely time the day we went to Bangor?" I believe the song is about a different Bangor. It still made me chuckle though. Isn't Bangor pier you can see from the Menai Bridge view point?

I loved that part of the country. I once had a tour guide who asked me If I wanted to go to South Stack for lunch. I had been there once before and it didn't do much for me. I vaguely recall it was a difficult place to reach by coach. I said I would prefer lunch in Beaumaris. So, we had morning coffee at Caernarvon, lunch at Beaumaris and afternoon coffee at Llanfair PG.

:dbgrtmb: That's my kind of day out.

A bit too hot to do much today. Spent most of the morning hauling blocks (see recent purchases). Just had time to trim the holly bush.

Just a thought Gary.....hollies are ideal for trimming.
I have 2 here....Golden King and Handsworth New Silver, both handsome plants. I keep them as cones and they make excellent features; both are large but you can keep them as tightly trimmed as you like.:) Perhaps you wont need to move it after all!
Shiney, sensible guy...hot here too  and watering will be my task later.

I'm not going to tell you where to start Gary, it pays to work whichever way you're comfortable with. It's just that right-handers usually work from left to right with wallpaper. :)

If you get back to wallpapering within the next two or three days it's an idea to put a wet but rung out cloth over the top of the bucket. It helps to stop the paste drying out and if it's already started then stir in a little more water to keep it from setting, not too much though.

I've just come in from picking beans as it became a bit cooler. Even with watering the beans well they are suffering badly from the heat and hot sun. Leaves are drying and dropping everywhere, the beans are curling up and trying to go to seed and I don't think there's more than another couple of weeks left in them .

Runners don't like heat and too much sunshine. That's why they don't grow them much in hotter climates. Although they originate from Central America they only grow successfully in the mountainous areas and are rarely seen in the lowlands.

I started an experimental project, many years ago, to see whether they could be grown in hot climates. We tried them as a school project in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Some were planted in full sun, some in an area where they were in shade for half the day and others in full shade. The ones in full sun didn't survive past about 12" high, those in half and half grew OK but the flowers never set and those in full shade grew and fruited but formed very knobbly beans where the flesh was inedible but the beans inside were good. As a school project it was a success but as a test to see whether it could be a crop the beans were a failure. :noidea:

Once the heat had gone out of the day, I got the shears out and spent about an hour trimming the privet hedge which runs along one side of the garden. Got about 20 yards done and cleared up before I ran out of daylight.

That's the third time I've cut it this year, most years it only needs a couple of cuts, but this year it's been putting on plenty of growth from quite early in the spring and the rain in July and August kept it going.

Finished off with a bit of watering in the veg patch.
