It was a beautiful sunny day here yesterday and I watered the pots and new plants yesterday evening. While going on a slug hunt later it had rained so I needn't have bothered.

Today the rain continues but it's that drizzly stuff that hardly wets the ground. I went in the garden to cheer myself up and was pleased to see my roses were having a second flush of blooms. Also the nepeta is flowering again. I'm not sure what the purple spired flower (veronica?)is in the third image but it's a good one for this time of the year. Rogue poppy in there too but I've given up on trying to eradicate them.

Other border plants still giving - I love my garden:)

Bit late now, but spent all day Saturday weeding, deadheading and mowing the lawns. Sunday planted out some lettuce seedlings in the Greenhouse and took a few Cuttings.

Really got into my Compost this year, just turned out another bin full. Sieved some of the gear to lay on a bed in the Greenhouse, just layed out the rest on top of a few beds as we have quite heavy clay soil. Some lovely gear i must say.

Over the last few days I've been messing around with my new pond, very much on a budget. Bought some marginal plants and baskets off ebay, so I now have bog bean, toad fern, water forget-me-not and miniature rushes as well as zantedischia. Oh and a litte solar fountain pump. Shells, broken slates and pebbles which I already had around have been rearranged, and I've also added a pile of dead wood to one side, scrounged from my neighbours, and installed a wildlife ladder, made from an abandoned piece of plastic grille (from a car radiator?) and some cable ties.

Message to the two large frogs who I had to evict while I took out the old pond: you can come back now, it's safe! And there are insect 'bar snacks'!

By the time I lost count of the number of wheelbarrows ; metric tonnes or imperial didn't make a great deal of difference !

Below is the third bowl, giving us about a bowl every week and still loads more to come.

Looks like crumble for tea tonight

Yesterday's first froggy visitor in the new pond. He spent a good hour exploring and just chilling before leaving, I hope to tell his friends all about it! 001.JPG
