      Thanks Verdun

We don't do anything to get/keep them that way. Just water them, feed them occasionally and talk nicely to them. :noidea:

@shiney , I have a blue pot just like that down by my gazebo. Just have flowers in it now. Love the lime colored hostas.

My first year growing hostas and the little ones are my favourite!

Also love the deep green and purple ones-no slug attacks on those. The others have done well but just starting to show some signs of slugs and browning.

Good to know others break their tools too Gary. :)
nothing lasts more than a couple of years for me. Secateurs, loppers, rakes, forks or spades.....you name it I can break it. My "unbreakable" stainless steel spade snapped when I used it as a crowbar last year.....folk laughed at me for its pink handle but it was a fine tool :noidea:

there is one hosta out there that the flower smells like a gardenia, its worth the find. ( I have it) this is for those that have little room and want one, might as well get a good one. it blooms mid season.

I took a bent garden fork back to the GC this week and they gave me a replacement. I was expecting a fight because it was over a year old but no problem they apologised and said I could either have my money back or they would replace it. Result - there is no obligation on their part because the 10 year guarantee is with the manufacturer not the store whose warranty is one year.

My favourite trick is throwing the hand tools in the green bin:frown: with the weeds. Now I've painted them all with luminous paint so I can find them easily in the borders, the compost or the bin.:)

Well done alana. However, the GC does have that responsibility to replace it for you. Your contract was with them. Your fork was sold with a 10 year warranty and one would expect it to last longer than one year :)
I returned a tv that had a 3 year warranty that had expired and had full refund; a sofa ( on behalf of a relative) after some 3 years; a hedgetrimmer a few months after its one year warranty had expired. I returned a 2 year sprinkler hose to the GC ....it had a 3 year warranty....for a replacement.
Know your rights and what you rightly expected from a product re wear, durability and usefulness. The phrase "fit for purpose" is appropriate. :)
Never let a retailer palm you off and refer you to the manufacturer...

I'm exhausted! Finished weeding and tidying up in the front and virtually dug up every perennial, divided it and replanted it. Made sure there was much more space between the plants as when I first planted them at the beginning of the year I had no idea how big they'd grow (or if they'd grow at all). Gave everything a good watering in. Looks so much better out there. Just hope it all survives!

Once I was stuck in a hotel lift between floors. I contacted reception to tell them what was happening. In the background I heard my colleague remark "He'll do anything to get out of work."
