I went to hardware store today and emerged with 14 pots of primula, 10 pots of frittillaria, 2 packets of seeds, 2 pots of bluebells and 1 buddleja pink flutterby ........ I only went in for window cleaning spray :oopss:.

Planted the primula, frittillaria and buddleja this afternoon. Still deciding about the bluebells and seeds. Swept part of the pathway around house, set up another :hhog: house and feeding station, loaded up car for trip to recycling centre tomorrow, shifted a few pots around on the patio, had another unsuccessful attempt at removing a Hydrangea from a pot ( been in pot for 4 years and refuses to vacate). Had a somewhat aimless wander about just looking at all the work that needs to be done and wondering if it ever will get done and then went inside for coffee.

Try giving the Hydrangea compost a really good long soak and then remove any roots poking out of the drainage hole. When it's been soaking wet for a full day, turn the pot upside down and the weight of the wet compost, the plant and gravity should, with a couple of knocks on the pot, let the whole thing slide downwards and out of the pot..........you can only try:dunno::snorky:

I've already tried that, hence resorting to digging. Its not actually pot bound, the pot is massive and so heavy I couldn't lift it back up by myself. The soil is quite wet already due to Anglesey's high annual rain fall :snorky: but I can make it more so and try again.

Got a bit sunburnt over the last couple of days working in the garden. I'm progressing with cutting the new lawn edges, and we've continued with the cutting back, weeding, demossing :), splitting and replanting, repotting and sowing.

One of the variegated grasses needed to be dug out in order for us to get all the couch grass out of it as it was taking over. We can't get it all out but we shall try to keep it in check.

Dustmen emptied the green wheelie bins at 7 a.m. and they were full again by lunchtime. :rolleyespink:

I also took a stroll around the garden telling the plants how well they were doing. :dbgrtmb: Praise goes a long way in helping our plants

We're also trying to propagate mistletoe on some of our apple trees.

Not much, but I have transplanted an everlasting sweetpea out of one pot and into another (I did say "not much" :heehee: )

Can runner beans be grown in the same location each year?

Good evening @rustyroots my friend well all the old school lads always have permanent sites
I can only relate my experience-I have grown beans on the same bit of ground for probably the last 15 years- perhaps more-never had a problem and don't consider it as a problem I Just dig a trench every year and fill it with compost, chicken manure-whatever to retain the moisture,my Dad used the same trenches for 30 years and never had a problem, but he did as above and dug and re-filled the trenches with fresh organic stuff every autumn, after the runners had finished.

Not in the garden, but, my living room window sill is now home to fourteen pots of Begonia tubers.

A really good buy from The Range. Two bags of seven for £10, different types, one lot of double { Rose flowered } one of double fimbriata { carnation flowered}.

The tubers have a circumference of between 25 and 30 cm and all are showing between 3 and 5 " pips " ( little shoot buds ).

Hardly done anything today. Felt poorly and just managed to sort my plug plants out and put some of them in the cold frame. Went out and put some bubble wrap over the cold frame because of possible temperature drop tonight.

Need that sun to come out again. :love30::hotsun:

Went to buy hay earlier and bought 2 plants in a sale, one Verbena for 50p and one hardy Geranium for £1.00 ( wargrave ). Both look very sorry for themselves and are currently residing in the conservatory for some recuperation.

Weather is overcast with a cold wind today but went outside anyway. Planted another pot of spring flowers and placed them in a sheltered spot. Inspected a few pots and noticed one of the climbing roses has tiny pink shoots on it :yahoo:. A bit of tidying up and then decided it was too really too cold, so back inside for coffee and nibbles on the conservatory sofa:snorky:

I always rotate mine with the peas and beans. I think I may have a little spot that I can use for them permanently. Maybe more room for more peas, as most don't make it into the house anyway.
