We've done lots over the last few days. Sowing, potting on, tidying, mowing, edging, weeding, spraying patio, pruning and lots of watering.

That looks like a local (here) bog reed of sorts @Zigs, that Swallow must have flown a long way before it dropped it. :snorky:

Did this yesterday. Can't decide whether to use stones to edge or wooden border edgers. The Cherry I planted 3 years ago. IMG_20170423_1526157_rewind.jpg

In the afternoon I strimmed a bit more out the front. The guy who came to look at septic soakaway thinks the grass is past saving. He may be right but I still think parts may be redeemable.

Well, you've made the bed straight lined, lucius, so round shapes like stones might clash. Maybe some wood with a pattern might look good:scratch:

Bought two more Alpines for one of the sinks today and a length of natural cotton rope. Rope currently has one end in a bucket of water and the other end buried 3 inches into a pot. Idea is rope acts like a wick an waters the pot when you are not there to. Anyone tried it? I don't have anyone to water for me whilst I'm away and worried about losing my plants.

Planted the Alpines. Huddled on the bench out front for 5 minutes trying to stay out of the biting northerly wind. Fed the birds and went into the warm.

I have 4 wooden border edgers and also enough rockery type stones to make a circle wide enough to disguise the straight edges.

Laid rockery stones around the cherry tree yesterday ( not sure if I like it, but easy enough to change ), strimmed the dry bank out front and lugged what felt like a ton of rubble out of my newly discovered space behind the shed. Cut some Herbs and Dandelions for buns and piggy dinners. Too tired to do anything else.

Today I washed and disinfected the interior of the greenhouse, mixed enough potting soil for the Autopots, and planted six tomato plants on one side of the greenhouse. Tomorrow I will tackle the other side of the greenhouse, but for now, I am ready for a nice nap. 42617.jpg

Last few days:- We're still tidying, planting, potting on etc. Weeded more of the veg plot and put in ten barrows full of compost and rotorvated it in.

Got Michael to pick up 42 x 2ft x 2ft paving slabs (freebies) and he's laid about 150sq ft of them so far. This to be used for another nursery area for plants. The job was made harder by the ground (was lawn) sloping in two directions with a difference in height of 7". So the gap had to be filled and levelled and we shall need to put kerbing in. Still more to lay and Michael shall, next week, pick up cement, another half ton of sand and the kerbing and finish the paving. I've been pressure hosing it as it had been a path that had not been cleaned for the 30 years it was down :rolleyespink:

Yesterday I was running chicken wire around the Shineyframes but wimped out in the very strong winds, when the hail came down. That was the first bit of wet we've had in over two months. It didn't do much so the sprinkler remained on. :dbgrtmb:

I'll take it a bit easy today and just finish running the chicken wire - shouldn't take much more than a couple of hours :fingers crossed:. Alright! I might just do a couple of hours of mowing as well :snork:
