I potted up 30 six cell trays of Rudbeckia, and 7 six cell trays of Echinacea, for the local Gardening Club Sale in May. After that I planted 3 Delphiniums in the "walk around" border and while doing so found that another Fox Tail Lily has shown it's head above ground. I watered all the 6 cell trays that are lining the paths, on the patio, along the outside of the Green House, and down at the bottom of the garden as there may be no significant rain for the next few days. After an amble around the garden, and a mug of tea by the pond, I put the sprinkler onto the rear lawn and switched it on for half an hour to water the turf I had laid earlier in the month. Tomorrow I'm planning on planting all the other Hardy Perennials that are in the Green House and locate them into any spaces I can find in the borders.......but that's tomorrow.:coffee::snorky:

Went into Holyhead to purchase a suitcase and luggage straps. Also spotted two Lilacs and a Japanese Azalea:rolleyespink:. Popped into hardware store for cleaning products ( they stock Astonish, which I like as not tested on animals ). Also came away with four Lavendula, three Dianthus and a white Phlox:rolleyespink:. Bank holiday chaos everywhere :yikes: :th scifD36:.

Spent this afternoon potting up the Lilacs and Azalea ( currently residing in the conservatory ). Made a half hearted attempt at pulling up nettles in the secret garden to be and moved a couple of chunks of concrete. Too many late nights early mornings caught up with me, not much enthusiasm today.

Over the last few days I've done a reasonable amount of work out there.

I've rotovated two of the compost heap with the four bladed rotovator. That's done a good job of it as it's too much hard work turning it by hand.

I didn't get around to finishing running the chicken wire around the ShineyFrames. My back hasn't taken too kindly to all the work I've been doing so have had to take it a bit easy. It's not an easy job as it's all work that needs doing whilst bending. Unrolling the wire is difficult enough as it keeps getting caught up on itself. Running it around the Frames is not too difficult but I then need to bend the bottom couple of inches outwards, pin it to the ground through the weed suppressant fabric, put vertical canes through it (to hold it upright) and push the canes into rock hard ground (used a screwdriver to start the holes).

I've done about 30 metres of wire so far and then Mrs Shiney had to come and help me get upright and help me get moving.

I've also done four hours of mowing, two hours of edging (only trimming), pressure hosed 100sq ft of paving where Mrs S has moved part of pots and trays from one of her nursery areas (it was thick black muck from nearly two years of them being there :rolleyespink:), moved two blowaways, done a small amount of weeding (one wheelie bin full) and sown another 200 runner bean seeds.

No gardening today - confined to barracks!

Some friends of ours have two Indian Runners as pets. They just have a water bowl. They're now coming up to being 11 years old and are real pets. They even have a heater in their home. Each evening they get a cuddle before being put back in their home. One of them won't go back in unless he is told a bedtime story whilst being cradle in his human's arms. :)

Mowed and edged the lawns. Loads of dead heading. Prepared a small border behind the Greenhouse and sowed some Poppy seeds I've had for a few years. Away for a week now. Boo

Strange things happening here....rain!! Heavy overnight and now but dry weather is expected by mid morning here in the west. Amazing growth because of that rain....carrots, beetroot, peas, etc. A lot of work in the garden yesterday, lawns cut, plants planted and beds weeded so this rain is welcome.:)
Heat wave coming this week folks :snorky:

I've also been building a bonfire which will be useful to dispose of my unsold Tussock Grass and Pendulous Sedge, heavy rain is forecast this evening so I'lll cover it up for a day or so.
