I removed some rotted log edging from between my woodland path and the lawn, re-edged the lawn and removed 5 barrowloads of turf to shift the whole path over a bit, giving it a nice curve in the process. I am pleased with the end result.

Potting up geraniums pelargoniums. £3.07 For 9 plants (in peat filled 'teabags') at B&Q, or £10 for 4 packs/36 plants. Spent £20 on 72 plants (28p each) for our front garden [1] and have got them all into 3" pots and put them in a polytunnel. By June they will be as big as ones selling for more than twice that.

[1] Last year I did the front garden with mainly free plants from Homebase, but their reductions aren't up to previous standards this year. My local Homebase has masses of (expensive) unsold plants that need chucking out or giving away, but only a few have been slightly reduced.

This morning I finished hand-cutting the bottom hedge (i.e. With secateurs), do as not to disturb any birds too much. Just cut two 40l trugs-ful of privet/Hazel/sycamore, for the compost. Planted out two tumbling tom tomatoes in the trough cloche, along with a cucumber. Planted out 12 French beans in the cloche on the veg bed - then watered all...

...oh yes, and did my cowgrazing method of grass cutting i.e. take small handfuls and pull, as if a cow grazing the grass, around my gooseberry bush, one of the apple trees,a buddleia, and the young cowslip plants, on my wild grass bank (too steep to use the lawn mower on).

Weeded the edge of the herb bed, tidied the sage bush, weeded through the Moroccan thyme, and generally tidied up the herbs. A few seedling lavenders to move, come the autumn!!

I like slate :dbgrtmb: Many years ago I drove past Ffestiniog in North wales . There were huge piles of waste slate from the mines all over the valley . Then some bright spark thought crush it , put it in a bag , sell it to gardeners at £6 a shot !

Ditto @ARMANDII . Have had a decent amount of rain today thank god.....did I ever think I would be preying for rain? Might now be able to hurl grass seed about over the approx 1/2 acre of subsoil created after a JCB regraded part of our land, and :fingers crossed: everything that the area will go green:)

I've laid turf on the lawn, silu, so at the moment the more rain the better. Having said that one of my Cats decided to stay out in the garden during the rain:dunno: and then came strolling back in when it was getting dark...........

Bought a mower earlier as my other one died. Keep thinking "I must get my glads in and do the summer pots!!" Pfft.

HA inspector came yesterday to look at the (lack of) wall, they are building it.. not sure when but I'll hear within the week.. My patio wall is coming down so it will match existing and new block wall.. don't think next door were too impressed with the visit, came out saying it's your wall you got to pay, I said no it's shared, checked my deeds. HA inspector agreed. Swear they are paying for it! :mute: Anyways, nice bit of disruption for them this summer.. I'll plod off to the plot
