Got space in my GH now as well, two weeks ago I could just about slide a cigarette paper in ! Finishing planting my patio beds this morning with Nicotiana and Laurentia Star. The patio looks like a farmyard now - so better jet wash it tomorrow.

Pottering around today, in the light drizzle...
I've opened the cloche frame on the trough by the kitchen window, and planted two tumbling tom tomatoes.
Taken the soft cloches off the peas and dwarf beans. We've got a cold night forecast (down to 7c), so I might tuck them up with a fleece overnight, but the pea/bean sticks are in and woven together to form a unit - the advantage of using newly cut stems!
Got my metal stamping kit out, to make permanent metal labels for the roses planted only 2 years ago. After stamping out "golden celebration" 3 times into tough aluminium, I can see why I've put it off for so long!
      Plants duly labelled.
I was going to do the three dogwoods as well, but don't think my head can take it!
Now to move broken wooden chairs down to the woodstore, and replace with other chairs, ready for in-law's visit next week!

Pouring down with rain again here, so looking for ideas for the troughs at the front of my house. They had a lovely display from the "bulb lasagnes'" so need something just as fab.

I have housing association bungalows at the back of mine about 12' down, the retaining wall collapsed last year due to a laurel tree pushing the post away and all the concrete slabs fell down into neighbours garden.

They said it would be done before December and low and behold, it was done in April this year a wait of 8 months.

Large Lilly's have arrived and planted, they are tree lilies and get about 6' odd to fill a gap in our wild area.

Rumour has it @shiney planted out his cobaea recently so, after the garden had a natural watering yesterday I thought I would plant out the success stories from my seed planting.

Then, decided I really should use up some of the packets of seeds still lurking in a drawer and cast them with careless abandon in pocket of bare earth: my preferred gardening method :heehee: So now it is fingers crossed to see if they "take": Poppy (Applegreen); Rudbeckia "Gloriosa Daisies"; Nigella "Midnight"; Cornflower "Double Blue" and Cornflower "Black Ball".

Really got into the rhythm and potted on the beans which had taken (many had not! :th scifD36: ) and fashioned a climbing support out of an el cheapo willow extending trellis, a couple of pieces of bamboo and wire ties. The beans will have to make do with that contraption because I put the pots into a faux wine crate planter (which I bought a couple of years ago and still hadn't put to use). The theory is that it will cover an eyesore and is near to the kitchen door for easy pickings. Didn't quite like that its going to take weeks for them to cover the trellis so, put a small tub of flowering chives on a raised area behind the crate (to attract bees) but it still looked bare. :think2:
Moved a stone teapot planter (which has mint growing in it: mint "tea", get it? :heehee:) next to the chives, then moved a quality street tub which I use as a planter for my chocolate mint next to that. Hmm, a mini allotment corner? :heehee:

Not bad considering I only went out to the garden so Ozzy could relieve himself

Nature is now giving those newly sown seeds and transplants a lovely watering, so its indoors now to find out the names of the clematis which I've forgotten (and can't find the book I wrote them down in  ).

I have some window boxes at the front of my house with geraniums in them (this is their 3rd year!) and I'm going to add some ivy and busy lizzies to them this year. Let us know what you decide to put into yours

Got half the bedding yesterday dahlia, nicotania, geraniums, marigolds and Mother Nature did the watering for me last night
Also took a few hostas out of the pots from the patio and planted them in the ground.
Idea was to finish up this morning but had to go into school because little Mowgley has received a award for exceptional maths and English.
Hopefully if the rain disappears I'll finish off

Come home from work to be told that we are having smart meters fitted and they need to change gas a lecky meters. Because there are descrepancies in the reading. Cleared space in the garage. Wife asked why in garage. I told her that is where they live. So what's the one in the kitchen cupboard she asks. That's the water meter I reply. Oh I've been giving them this reading:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

After I stopped laughing and pick the kids up from school. Me and my son planted cabbages and lettuce. I then potted up some geraniums I got off freecycle along with some hazel pea sticks.

Would I be better planting peas direct into soil or starting off in greenhouse?

I've sown mine direct but then there is no risk of frost in my area.
Actually, to be really honest, I planted peas direct in March and they are doing ok
Which variety are you going for? Mine were Kelvdon Wonder and Lincolnshire.

I was either going to go for Kelvdon Wonder or Meteor. I have never grown them before, so I am open to suggestions.
