    Morning folks :)
Hurst Green Shaft for me.....tastiest peas I think. Beginning to flower now
Used to sow peas indoors......mice!.....but by sowing direct into the gound and covered with polythene I find gives best results for min effort
Some rain overnight but now sunny and looking good out there:yay:

We had a good start to the day. So out came the strummer. Thought I'd go round to field next door n knock Bach the stingers that grow through the fence. It's minced down ever since. Even the fish in the pond are wet

Today I fastened the tomato plants to their supports with twine and vine clips, also, I filled the water containers and turned on the valves for the autopots. There is not much to do now but wait for the first tomato of the season.

Jet washed the patios , in the driving rain ! Went for a game of snooker and a pint , then tidied all the back patio up and garden . It looks more like a garden than a farmyard now . Next week I'll plant the Cannas in the beds , followed by the Cactus Dahlias . That will be the back finished then !:blue thumb:

Had quite a productive day pottering about doing this and that.

                    Mowed and edged the lawn.

Planted out the first of the sweet corn and sowed the runner beans. I just sow my runner beans direct into a pre-prepared trench every year, can't be bothered with all that sowing in pots and faffing about - they won't all germinate, but there'll be enough to provide us with all the beans we need.

Planted out a couple of courgettes, one yellow and one green variety.

Pruned the rosemary in the herb patch, one of my favourite jobs as I love the fragrance given off by the leaves. :)

Took cuttings from a few plants which we want to take with us, if and when our anticipated house move eventually happens - I've been dividing and taking cuttings from various favourite plants around the garden for the past couple of months now - rosemary, helianthemum and sarcococca were added to the list today, along with some rooted pieces from three different hardy geraniums.

Finally, cut the first sweet peas of the summer, along with some quaking oat grass, scabious and white campion for a little arrangement to put on the kitchen window sill.

Planted runner beans, French beans and sweetcorn on the plot. Dug over a "pumpkin patch".

Also gone halfers on another plot we both run out of room and figured another plot each would be too much. We're having it for free and already has an ibc tank. Whoo hoo!

Came home and looked at garden thought balls.. collected eggs and I now have 13 eggs and counting to use by Weds..

I've sown early onward, onward and Hurst green shafts for peas.. onward in the garden. Still got Kelvedon wonder and another type, that has slipped my mind to sow. Will do it when I come back from hols.

Weeding and tidying up borders. Planting out Alderman peas, sowing carrots and green manure seed. May make a start on planting out Zinnia, Cosmos etc.

Wiseowl, imperata red baron is a superb grass. I have clumps here and they provide that red colour increasingly as summer goes on. Anemone Wild Swan goes well with it for colour all summer long :yay:

Earthed up my freebie tatties, added a nice thick layer of new ericaceous compost to the blueberries, emptied out the seven remaining half barrels and sowed radishes, parsnips, peas (Alderman), beetroot, and amaranthus tricolour

EDIT - and three pots of courgettes.

In the last few days I've cut all the lawns, trimmed the edges of most of them and because we've now had rain I can carry on making new edges. They're normally all done by April but I had to stop because the ground was rock hard from the drought.

We've continued planting out beans (nearly 200) and tied them in, planted a whole variety of perennials (from stock) to fill in where plants have died, still doing tidying up, removed about 100 plum suckers, weeded, went on bindweed and goosegrass patrol, made climbing frames for the cobaea, tied in some Clematis, made hundreds of plant labels for the sales tables, filled another wheelie bin with forget-me-nots, removed loads of lilac suckers, filled another wheelie bin with trimmings from the willow so that people can walk under it without getting a face full of leaves (I hand cut the branches so that it looks natural), put stakes in and tied back the peonies that were flopping, showed people round the garden (people who are dropping things in for next weekend and they always want to have a nose round!
