@martin-f I remember how splendid it looked :wub2: Refreshing to see that you don't mind undoing something you worked so hard on when you decide something else would please you more

I spent the morning planning and executing a self-watering system for the central border ...

... hope it works! :dunno:

Planted courgettes in pots, I was going to get potato sacks from wilko, but they ran out. Took out the pea supports as nothing germinated and planted dwarf French beans. Sown a couple of rows of cut and come again leaves, radish and spring onion.

Planted 9 giant lilies said to grow 9' high and need no support.

These poppies grow every year in a different spot in the garden in varying quantities, must be wind blown seeds but never grow in the same space.
I've had from a couple last year to about 30 in my carrots a few years ago.

Now settled in the uncultivated part near my fence, the land will become a new patio with a paved border along the fence.
Just have to find the time and willpower ( who is Will Power ) and more excuses for her indoors as to why it takes so long, doesn't help being asked to paint the big shed light blue and now she wants the small shed doing as well oh well.

:) I like it M :blue thumb: it looks a nice feature as well :)

Thank you for your kind words recently M :love30::), no I don't mind changing things around, the satellite dish has forced me to make changes,

Its split the garden up into little sections and I really like it, I had already made something similar behind the arbour planter,

          IMG_4583.JPG

          I now have a nice little area for a pond 8ft x 4ft ish :)

Just caught up, great reading what everyone's been up to

Went out the back to give the chickens some treats and have a gander at the border I made last year.. slugs, weeds and grass have invaded. 5 mins turned into 45 of pulling up just rosebay willow herb.. it's everywhere :frown: and stinging nettle has popped up in a few places.. bindweed is taking over the back.. :gaah: hate the railway line behind at this time of year! Still have lots of gaps to fill too :dunno:

Noticed my goat willow has been rocked by the wind and has a serious lean to it.. think I might dig it up.. camellia is looking poor too so that's to come out and go in a big pot. Grass needs a serious haircut and edging. Uhh..blowaway shelves been knocked over.. patio is swamped near chickens..

In other words I looked round, saw a whole load of jobs that need doing and ran!

Your patio is looking great @fat controller, looks good as new! :dbgrtmb:

@martin-f you just don't stop, do you! :heehee:

Love the watering can @"M"

                Thank you @Linz !
Just on a consolation point: nettles are fab for insects, so consider it your little bit of "wildflower" gardening ;) The rest? Burn the blighters!!! :paladin:

Thanks M, nothing special, a few plants plain old goldfish and some from frog spawn next year, something to give the grandkids some interest, I will leave some shallow parts for the birds :).

:heehee: Hi Linz, that's just it with gardening as you know  when where do you stop :dunno::heehee:

Your peas have done better than mine. I made 2 showings and didn't have any germination. Now removed all supports and sown dwarf French Beans.

Just to distinguish, martin's are "everlasting sweet peas" - so, ornamental not edible.

As a thought, were your peas in a container? I moved a couple of containers which had my peas in and now they are sprouting (weeks behind others!). Also, I planted some dwarf French beans on 24 May ... still no signs of them sprouting  :dunno: My other beans were slow to start, but are now making up for lost time

I sowed way too many edible peas.. they're pulling each other down! On the other hand, my cupani sweet peas are pants again this year, so slow and not flowering. Longk's sweet peas have just started flowering and are small white ones, thought they were supposed to be blue :heehee: very pretty though. I also chucked in everlasting sweet peas but they're nothing like Martin's, fingers crossed for next year!
