Who knows if we are going to get it. The guy selling it really messes people around-we're just going to have to wait and see what happens-but basically he is limited to who he sells it to as the only access to the land is through our sites management company and none of us will give him access permission as he has been awful. In the meantime we use it to walk the dogs.

If we got it, mr snorks wants to build a set of jumps for his bike (mountain/jump biking). He is absolutely mad on downhill mountain biking etc although I think he is getting a bit too old for it now!!!

I can have a section for chickens and maybe a couple of donkeys.

An orchard area with an apiary etc.

And a secret garden.

And a poly tunnel....

The list goes on although finding the time would be the problem. I'm only doing a bit of freelance work at the moment so have time (although I don't know where it goes.....oh yeah having migraines and being in bed lol).

 

What a lovely thing to do. You are very knowledgeable about hedgehogs! Good point about bread and milk...... I didn't know slugs accounted for such a small part of their diet. Wish we had hedgehogs again in my area. Thanks for all the info

Been to the Isle of Anglesey once. Beautiful place, and climbed up an amazing lighthouse.

 

@Jimcub lovely photo you have there of a Harris Hawk and you are so lucky to have it visit you.I wonder if someone has lost it as you don't normally see them flying about in the wild

As we were over the lottie for a long time yesterday morning picking produce we decided to have a nice walk this morning and this afternoon I have been out cutting back plants and pulling up dead yellow and orange poppy plants and old granny bonnets while Mr Kandy washed Katie and now I am resting with my feet up as they are starting to hurt a bit

This little chappie was outside my backdoor last night waiting for me to feed it but I was a bit late as we were watching Versailles and it didn't finish until ten

I saw one today....6am in Tring on the way back from dropping mr snorky at heathrow...a big hoggy had been hit by a car But a huge hawk was diving down trying to pick it up....was quite a sight.

Also saw a little black rabbit on the way to heathrow-looked like a pet. I saw it on the way back so stopped but it was scared and ran in the bushes. Poor thing.

 

Thought about that but only one access through remaining property and don't want people tramping back and forth next to my house. Lady in the tile shop in Holyhead is trying to persuade me to use the land to build a cattery . This despite the fact I don't really like cats - just like my cat 'cos he cuddles me all night long and looks up at me with those big amber eyes . She is convinced I would be successful at running a cattery .

 

Thank you . The past 6 years have been a learning curve with a lot of stress and anxious moments. I've had 36 hedgehogs and only lost 3. One I could definitely have saved had he been brought to me sooner but the people tried to do it themselves and left it too late to seek help when hog deteriorated ( poor bean was just a babe of 3-4 weeks ). One had been poisoned, so nothing I could and third had pneumonia and a head wound from a strimmer or dog bite. He was in really bad way as not found immediately but I might still have been able to save him if the vet hadn't given a steroid injection.

Anglesey is an amazing place to live . Do you mean South Stack or Point Lynas?

 

I know I'm being dense but I don't really understand this. Are you saying the guy who owns the land has no access to it? But he allows you access so you are not trespassing

Ha ha technically yes. He was one of the site developers who converted all the farm/barns. The land surrounding it either belongs to us residents as part of the site management company (we all have a share) or it belongs to our friend the farmer who does not get on with him either (to put it mildly).

The only way he can access it is if he keeps one of the barn conversions so he can get on to it through his back garden-but he hit a stumbling block-the drive way isnt big enough and he wants to buy land off the management company to make his driveway bigger and therefore gain access. We have all said he can't purchase the land he needs to widen his access.

The developers (including him) are awful. They're technically directors of the management company whilst they are still developing the last couple of barns....but as all of us residents are equal shareholders they cant do anything without our say so. That's just the tip of the iceberg!!!

 

In the past he has said its fine to walk the dogs on his land-he hasnt done anything to look after it at all and it's been an overgrown mess! The farmer is fuming as she constantly gets weeds etc in her fields for her animals.

 

I think you'd be excellent running a "Hoggery"

 

You got him over a barrel, get together with the residents and make him an offer for it
