Despite feeling weird and poorly all weekend I've managed to do a bit of gardening today.

Moved a rose in the back garden to a better position. Dug some manure into a clay border and planted some cyclamen to add a bit of colour. Also split up and replanted some London's pride.

Been up to the lotty and planted white and red onion sets and got the garlic in. Also did some strawberry plants from runners into a new bed. Gave everything a good watering in as its been quite warm and dry here.

Best of British, Bee. It sounds a corker of a plant and well worth the trial and error in propagating it

Not as much done as yesterday, but I did drag the Fatsia Japonica pot round from the back gate to the patio. It's a day or two away from bursting into flower and I'll be able to see it from the back door window  Moved the four baby Thuja pots and put them at the base of the Fatsia pot together with a couple of small pots of ivy. It's a more protected corner, out of the prevailing winds, and should do nicely for overwintering.

With overwintering in mind, I put the Choisya "cuttings" (they weren't planned, just a couple or three pieces I save from the lot I chopped off the main shrub much earlier in the year and stuck in a pot to see what happened: well, they rooted is what happened! :heehee: ) into a large, empty, holding planter, together with some Bowles Mauve cuttings I took more recently. Put a Perspex cover over the top as I don't want them to get over wet during the winter months.

Began tidying the wooden grow house, but gave up because I'd forgotten I had a roast in the oven and it was smelling ... erm ... :think2: ... well cooked  Thankfully, just in time because it fell into the former of my mother's criteria: "When it's brown, it's cooked; when it's black, it's beggared" :heehee:

Do you know, I never heard my mother say a rude word? Never! :nonofinger:
Tell a fib, that is, until she was dying; amongst other thing she wanted me to know, she admitted that she had returned a letter to a relative with the word (of course, the filter prohibits me from typing it, but to the effect of) "Bill hooks!!!" :snooty: in capitals on the reverse of the envelope, resealed it and wrote "Return to Sender" on the front !
I nearly fell off my chair! :thud: First in :hate-shocked: and then in :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Take it easy while you wait for that appointment :grphg:

Give the lawn a good rake and a mow, overseeded the lawn as well.

Removed the old snapdragons from 2year ago which have been looking a mess for quite a while, gong to have to put them through the woodchipper they have gone very woody.

Dug up a primula drimstick and a fuchsia which were in the wrong place.

Replanted some allium bulbs I dug up while planting the rose earlier.

Took some cutting as well :) some salvia - agastache and some fuchsia coral

You have a lovely view Zigs from your window :). We have a static caravan in the garden, which we lived in when we moved up as house was/is a do up job. I loved it :)

Been outside and did a little weeding.....isn't the sky strange! It's cloudy but eerily orange out there! Just seen it's something to do with dust in the atmosphere. SPOOKY! If I try to take a photo my camera automatically adjusts it so it looks normal.

We had the orange sun earlier and yellow clouds.

No gardening today, sat indoors watching Storm Ophelia battering the garden. Went outside earlier and battened down the hatches. My poor little birdies are being blown all over the place. I moved all the food to back garden as slightly calmer there.

Bought two Phlox 50p each in B&M, one white, one pink.

It's the same here. It's been like it since half past 2ish. The wind keeps gusting and dying down. The wind causes chaos here so fingers crossed for tonight.

I've seen some different thing in the garden centre today. I saw verbena rigida. I hadn't seen a small verbena until today. I also saw Anemone Prinz Heinrich.

It's been previously stated that Japanese anemones are invasive. Is this one like that? It's a very pretty colour.

                            G.

In my experience, yes prinz Heinrich is invasive. Some will say not but I can confirm it is ...not one I would plant Gary.:) It can emerge a metre or more from its original site. :gaah: Not good when pushing up from a choice plant :noidea:

Verbena Rigida is also invasive.....beautiful plant but best dug up and replanted every year or two. Thus, it is an easy plant to propagate :rasp:

Ophelia now subsiding.......that big bright red sun today apparently caused in part by debris from the Sahara; looked like a big orange in the sky early this morning :rasp:

Picked up a couple of daphne Perfume Princess today in 3 litre pots.......for me the most fragrant of daphnes. Wont say where I got them but very happy with the price I finally paid . Been after them since I first saw them growing a couple of years ago.....makes odora seem inadequate :).
