    Hiya 2nd_bassoon :)
Regarding your question re good marker pens. I use a markie fine point black ink on white labels. It is reasonably effective but needs refreshing ....e.g. Labels written in spring are now in need of refreshing for winter period. Surprisingly, wooden labels seem to be legible for longer.
I have tried numerous so called permanent markers but all seem to fade:)

Blowing a gale here and very wet......gardening? Not today :noidea:

Well, well, 10 minutes ago I wrote that about the windy wet weather but now, suddenly, no wind, no rain, blue sky and sun.. Yippee ! :yay: That's Cornish weather for you :)

I bought a packet of white plastic labels which also came with a pencil (don't think it's an HB one but it is definitely a pencil :heehee: ) and it has done the job really well. Think I bought them from either the £ shop, Poundland or B&M's  either way, cheap as chips so worth the trial. No issues with runs/blobs/untidiness either.

I've been too busy this week to do any gardening but have had the sprinkler going quite a bit. The lack of rain has been quite a problem this year. Fortunately the droopy plants have started to recover. The small plants have been OK because of surface moisture from dew and wet mists but large shrubs and perennials just haven't had any moisture getting to their roots.

Not the weather for gardening but off to choose plants for a new build garden :)
Dont know how but tall perennials are still standing.......despite Ophelia a few days ago and the rain and wind preceding Brian. :)

Been having a very busy few weeks and no time for anything bar watering pots (if it's not been raining, which it has!) Today in the wind I have chopped part of a very rampant buddleija down. It will come back. Just needs controlling! The garden is looking quite sad (and very blustered) so want to try and put some happy things into it!

It's not been a bad day here. Its been a bit blustery but not cold or wet. I got on with digging the soil out. I've got to a point where I'm digging out roots coming from the opposite direction. These can only be from an already established tree. I see no benefit in disturbing them further.

The only plants that started to droop this during a long[ish] dry period were my six or seven Hydrangeas, but a good soaking with the hose solved the problem:hapydancsmil:

Does seem to be a marked difference Westside UK has had a very wet summer the East and especially the South East dry .
Storm Brian is battering at the windows this afternoon . This morning managed to clear some more rubbish from an area I am replanting . Filled the green bin in 20 minutes again ! Will need to visit the local recycling facility ( can't call it a dump now ) with some trugs of green waste, later this week.
